NEW YORK (CNN) -- Christopher Reeve's widow, Dana, reflected on his life and the days before his death in a letter released Tuesday to family, friends and supporters of the film star and activist.
"On Saturday, October 9th, Chris spent his last day of consciousness doing what he loved to do," Reeve wrote.
"He left a long phone message for Senator John Kerry lending his support and encouragement; he attended one of Will's [Reeve's son] hockey games, cheering as they won a huge victory, bursting with pride as Will was presented with the game puck for his outstanding playing that day. He and I spent the early evening on the phone and then he watched the Yankee game with Will and gobbled up one of his favorite meals, turkey tettrazini."

I'd make sure no animal in the WORLD were unloved or without a home and hungry if I were a multi-millionaire...I'd do a lot for lukemia in children if I were a multimillionaire....the WHOLE LOT Of them, could do lots of good with their millons if they wanted too....they only trot it out and open up their billfolds when its something "they want" or suffer from....us folks would do it out of the kindness of our hearts......
thats the difference in us and them.......
I'm very sorry to hear that.
How sad; I'm very sorry for your loss. What causes it?
Reeve was a big lefty even before his accident. We all want to live, and you'd be surprised what you'd be willing to endure to survive. This makes him a hero? A lot of people have said he actually had a bad influence on the science, that he was interfering with the research with his push for a miracle cure. Anyway I'd like to see the whole stem cell thing go away. I don't really understand why they think it's such a good issue for them. Not to mention they've been repeatedly rapped by independent fact checkers for distorting Bush's position. He didn't ban anything. It just goes to show, as with global warming, that politics has no place in science. It leads to bad science.
In the name of the most Holy Appeals Court Chief Justice, I, Silky Pony Edwards call for you Superman to come out of your tomb and walk. We have stem cells for you that will retore you and help you fly again. Praise lawsuits!
The left has indoctrinated their followers into believing that stem cell research will cure EVERYTHING. If you question any DIM on the subject, they know absolutely NOTHING. Not that I do, but you don't see me trotting out various stricken celebrities (Reeves, Michael J. Fox) for my cause.
Look, I certainly have issues with Reeve, Kerry, etc., but I wouldn't begrudge the guy doing the things that he enjoyed (and was capable of) on his last day on the planet.
What you expect him to do on a Saturday? Things he detested?
my Mama developed it right after heart surgery... she was close to death but they used those "last resort" antibotics and she finally gained some strength and recovered as best she could....she is 82...
Im so sad to read about your son...
Dear Beeline, I am sorry for your loss as well. I hope you don't take my opinions about the politicizing of stem cell research/celebrities to mean that i'm not sympathetic about the loss of loved ones. I just see a distinct line that some DIMS seem very willing to cross- at any opportunity.
Perhaps I would, if he were truly a HERO, as he has been made out to be.
I think most of our folks over in Iraq are probably doing things they don't want to do 24/7, don't you?
But, no, I don't begrudge him life's comforts and pleasures. Point well taken.
what was ironic about what he did before the accident was that Ron Silver was part of that "activist" group...I am thankful he's seen thru most of the LIB lies about terrorism and is supporting the President now.......
For sure ... I mean ... I mean ... anyone who can write so eloquently about her dead husband gobbling up turkey, must be telling the truth.
On the other hand ... who really cares?
I think Reeves was also an Atheist, I wonder if he is now rethinking that position.
And she would tell the truth?
He had leukemia--the bacteria somehow entered his system and since his immune system was comprimised his body did not have the strength to fight it.
As a child Superman to me was George Reeves even though he had died of gunshot before I had ever seen him on the tube. Despite the low budget I enjoyed the 50s version more.
I "stretched" the truth a bit when I was a kid.
My dad called it lying, and beat my butt for it.
I'm a truthfull guy as a result.
A shame kerry jinxed him.
I always felt sorry for him, and hope he's in a better place now, but the fact remains he, and people like him, would kill a baby just so they could walk again.
The definition of selfishness, imo.
