WASHINGTON, 20 October 2004 — Because I have been repeatedly asked the question, “For whom will you vote and why?” Let me use this opportunity to respond.
This November, I will vote for John Kerry for president of the United States. I will do so, confident that it is the right thing to do for my country and my community.
Now this doesn’t mean that I agree with all of John Kerry’s positions. I’m a Democrat, but I’ve always challenged my party and its leadership when it was important to do so.
Over the past two decades I’ve helped to lead the fight within the Democratic Party for Palestinian rights, against “secret evidence” and ethnic profiling, and against acquiescence to this disastrous war in Iraq. And during this campaign I have raised strong objections to a number of statements about the Middle East made by Kerry and his vice presidential running mate.
But even with this I repeat: On November 2nd, I will confidently vote for John Kerry. Here’s why: I believe, along with Sen. Kerry, that at stake in this year’s election is the very definition of our nation — the values we seek to protect at home and project to the world.
The last four years have had a devastating effect on our nation. They have tested our national unity and our sense of mission. The Bush administration has pursued domestic and foreign policies that have been both neglectful and reckless. Because of reckless tax cuts a record surplus was turned into record deficits.
Previously strong alliances were compromised by a reckless and radical policy of unilateral preemption,

Let's see now....So far Kerry has been endorsed by Arafat, CAIR, Al-queda, the Communist Party USA, and now - the Zogby's. Anybody need any other reasons to vote for George W. Bush?

John Kerry offers something too tempting to pass up: a free ticket to fantasyland.
In a Kerry presidency, we can all be what we want to be, by simply pretending. There is great power in this. No longer will you be held accountable for past actions. What you have done means nothing.
This cannot be true, you say. This is silly, you say, and I knew you would, so I come prepared.
Consider this: John Kerry’s main claim to being capable of assuming the mantle of President of the United States is his service to his country as a military man in Vietnam. For four months. This would mean that anyone who served eight months in Vietnam would be twice as capable of being president, would it not? And someone who served sixteen months in Vietnam would be four times as capable and, well, you get the point.
This is like saying that anyone who has worked on the assembly line in a manufacturing plant for four months, would automatically be qualified to become the president of the company. I have tried to think of one area life where this is true, but I cannot think of one. If you were the quarterback of a football team for four months, who would think you now capable of being the coach? If you were a priest for four months, who would consider you for Pope? If you were the dishwasher in a five star restaurant for four months, what would you have learned that would qualify you to be the chef?
What could Kerry have learned in four months in Vietnam that makes him qualified to be the President of the United States? He says he performed atrocities such as torching villages and shooting innocent women and children and cutting off ears and arms but that he did so in an attempt to be a team player. Of course no one believes him because if they did he would be in jail for such actions.
I’m not sure whether his atrocities or his being a team player qualify him for President, but there’s more.
In four months he got three purple hearts, just the right number to get him a get out of Vietnam free card. These three purple hearts gave him no scars, no hospital time, no blood loss. They didn’t even require an enemy to be present. Three Band-Aids and a ticket home. Wow. A guy who could pull this off should be President. It’s called the ability to get things done. Set a goal and realize it against impossible odds.
Kerry also spent Christmas in Cambodia even though he was never there. In compliance with orders that Nixon never gave before Nixon gave them. Forget the facts, get the nuance. He’s a liar. A skill perfected by the previous democratic president. This was all seared in his memory before it became unseared when held up to reality. Fantasyland.
Kerry asserts that this is enough to qualify him for president but I think he’s selling himself short. He’s done much more.
He came home and lied to congress about what he had seen and done in Vietnam, he actually admits to this, and then he led the anti-war movement against the United States for the North Vietnamese. The North Vietnamese have publicly given him their gratitude as his efforts helped keep them in the war and assisted them in the torture of American POWs. John Kerry’s efforts were a major factor in winning the war.
If Kerry becomes President, he will see to it that this war is won. By the other side but you must remember that when the UN takes over we’ll all sort of be on the same side so it’s kind of like us winning. In fact it’s better because when our Islamic brothers win, it’s a win not only for diversity but against Christianity and the evil white men who made this country great.
Nor is that all that qualifies Kerry for President. He has been a United States Senator for nineteen years. During these nineteen years he voted for everything he now is against but that’s only until he becomes President. Then he can be for it again. Everyone knows that he would never get elected by running on his senate record so the media made it disappear until after the election when Kerry can then claim a mandate for running the country via the same liberalness that he exemplified as senator. Fantasyland.
If this all seems too unreal it’s because it is all too unreal. When Kerry becomes President we can all live in fantasyland. We’ll see through the veil and discover the French and the Germans and Muslims are our friends, and the terrorists will be exposed as valiant freedom fighters. We can go on vacations to Disneyland with our newly married gay Islamic friends, holding hands and displaying our love for all to see. We can all marry rich women and reinvent our past to be whatever we want it to be. And the government will take care of us, using the money we rightfully get from those who figured out how to earn it.
Bush's problem is he has no imagination. He wants to live in reality. I see a free ticket to fantasyland and I'm going to use it.
The difference is, he was mistakenly called a Muslim when he is actually a Christian.
You've got the wrong Zogby. John Zogby is the pollster. The author of this dreck is his brother James, who is the head of the Arab American Institute, a front group for Hamas. Practically speaking, however, there isn't a fig's worth of difference between the two.
My focus isn't so much on the religious beliefs of the person, but rather their political beliefs.
Thanks for clarifying. I knew he (the pollster) had a brother, but didn't even notice the first name in this article. Feeling too outraged lately about all their other in-your-face stuff, I guess, and jumped on this.
