Principal Suspended Over Alleged Illegal Gun Possession

CHICAGO -- Authorities have temporarily removed the principal of a Chicago elementary school from his post after finding a large number of allegedly unregistered firearms at his South Side home.

Police say 50-year-old John Lewis was charged with 61 counts of possessing unregistered firearms after the guns were found at his home during a weekend raid.

Police said Lewis had a valid firearm owner's identification card -- but for only one of the guns.

Lewis was the principal of Libby Elementary School on 53rd Street.

Gun control laws will only be used as a tool to prosecute violent criminals and never just because of paperwork violations of otherwise noncriminal citizens. /s

key phrase: unregistered firearms

I thought gun control advocates didn't want to "register" firearms.

"... during a weekend raid." Wonder what the probable cause was? Oh - right. It's Chicago.

So they raided this guy's house...Am I to assume that someone tipped off the cops that he had unregistered guns? That's unreal. You'd think the guy was a child molester or something.

Guess which city's schools will be at the top of the target list for the Islamists' next blood-soaked school takeover?

What a sad state to live in. Only a fool would register a firearm anyway. I wished he could have a west Texas jury. Jury nullification is a beautiful thing.

What a sad state to live in.

That's because it's top-heavy with anti-Second Amendment RINOs. Just like California.

Just gun owners.

This sounds like about as clear cut violation of the 2nd as I've seen.

Yes, but the 2nd Amendment is void where prohibited by law.(/sarcasm!)

Although I haven't technically "registered" a firearm, I have left a paper trail, some of it by design. Since I had to get a permit just to buy a handgun in Iowa, I thought it would be a good idea to let them know I bought "one." So, in addition to the paperless .357s (purchased legally from a private party who knows only my cash), I bought a .22 from a FFL dealer.

I call it my "drop gun" because, if (when) the authorities finally decide to follow all the paper trails and confiscate, they can have the .22 and be satisfied that they have all my handguns. ;O)

Think the principal had a .32 gun in his pocket, for fun? Hey, this *was* the south side of Chicago...

"Police said Lewis had a valid firearm owner's identification card -- but for only one of the guns."

A state actually requires someone to have a gun owner's ID card to own a firearm? I consider that to be draconian and repressive.

The author of the article is incompetent. FOID cards are licenses to be a gun owners. The state issues one card to gun owners, not multiple cards.

Illinois is a very gun-unfriendly state. If I shot an intruder in my home, I would be the one looking at jail time.

Look at our politicians. We have King Richey Daley, mayor-king of Chicago who wants to take away personal firearms from the police force. We have Dick Durbinladin. Unless a miracle occurs and Keyes pulls it out, we will have Barack Osama, keynote speaker at the rat convention. He makes Durbinladin look like the conservative Senator from Illinois.

Please pray for us!

Maybe they meant pistol license, which the application forms were not made generally available since 1975? and pistol licensing ended in 1983? and only existing licensed pistols from that time are allowed. If he was selling illegal pistols out of the house that sure would get the attention of the cops.

No, they meant Firearms Owner Identification Card. Two pictures must be attached to the application and the Illinois State Police does a background check to be sure the applicant is not nuts or a criminal.

A person needs this card to set foot in a gun range or buy a gun.

Guns have been illegal for the peasants in Chicago since the seventies.

Daley wants to take personal firearms away from the police.

I can't remember if Chicago is "Murder City" for 2003 or not. Is our streak unbroken?
