When my grandparents were alive they loved him. I suspect he has some influence.
Good for Art! Briefly met him once years ago. Was surprised to observe how much the room changed when he entered it. Grand old man definitely has charisma. May his words "speak" to his intended audience, along with everyone else!
Good heavens he really doesn't look that much older than he did when I used to watch "House Party" with my mom when I was little.
Please don't mention Art's name in the same paragraph as that towel-headed murdering scumbag.

The brains of a 21 year old also...really interesting to listen to.
He has lots of influence and he leads the conservative alternative to AARP. Human Events had a great interview with him a few months back. He has hob nobed with past presidents and has also been an influence on many TV personalities such as the host of Sabado Gigante.
I can remember some of his interviews on House Party with Roger Miller, Sebastian Cabot, a Green Beret freshly returned from Vietnam, and of course the children. He had "it" and the personality that most of today's talk show types lack.
KerrySpot at NRO mentioned talking w/ GOP operative who said kerry played the scare tatic too early. They think he knows he's behind. Gives them time to counter it so it will lose effect by Nov 2nd. This could be one of the issues to counter, and then there is the 2.7% increase announcement today.

Ha! I also remember Art having Joan Crawford on his show. "Mommie Dearest" was her usual not-to-warm self. She was a Pepsi spokewoman and Board member and Art helped hustle RC Cola. Art handed Joan a Royal Crown while he took a drink of Pepsi. Joan took the slightest taste of RC and did not hide her boredom with the ploy too well. But Art plowed straight ahead into the interview with her as upbeat as always.
I've been thinking the same thing; Kerry is using his ammunition too early and leaving time for his attacks to be blunted and turned against him.
When my husband was a little boy he was on the Houseparty show that Art Linkletter hosted. He did make a lasting impression on my husband. Art's father was a Baptist Pastor, I have all ways known where he stands.
Art was an abandoned child and adopted by a Baptist pastor and his wife. Wonderful Christian people.
