Woman Shoots Tire On Getaway Vehicle
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- Pembroke Pines police said a would-be robber tangled with the wrong woman Monday.
Investigators said Felecia Moss, 34, was followed when she drove her Lexus into her gated community. When she arrived at her home, a man who was driving a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera pulled up and approached Moss as she got out of her car.
Moss said the man, who had a gun, demanded money from her. But when she showed him her empty wallet, he grabbed a cellular phone from her purse.
Moss then pulled out a 9mm Heckler and Koch semi-automatic handgun. The man scuffled with Moss, trying to get the gun. Without being able to get the gun, the man took off running.
Moss fired three shots at the man, and fearing he would return for his getaway car, she shot the tire out on the vehicle.
Police said the man ran into Rainbow Lakes Development where he carjacked Shirley Michaan's silver 2004 Toyota Sienna Van.
Police said the van is still missing. It has the Florida license F47LCN.
The Ciera the man was driving was carjacked in Miramar on Oct. 11.
The man is described as in his early-20s, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 150 pounds, with a thin build, dark skin and a mustache. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored jean shorts, white sneakers and a black skull cap. He had no accent, police said.

Sometimes staying close to the car in front of you tricks the sensors.
He had no accent...I would have bet he had a Swedish accent ...by golly...
Probably an automatic gate that doesn't close that fast behind the car.
If one follows closely enough then there is time to get two cars into the complex before the gate closes. Happens all the time.

I hope she's ok with the authorities. In many states, shooting at the fleeing perp would get her in trouble.

Taken together with the "dark skin" information, I surmise the perp is a black man, but political correctness precludes his being identified as such.
The family wheeled Grandma out on the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn't speak very well, but she could write notes when she needed to communicate. Boy, you're not kidding. Then she put one in the guy's tire. One count of unlawful discharge right there, without even getting warmed up.
But even without considering the law, it sounds a wee bit unsafe to let 3 rounds fly in a neighborhood without knowing where they're going to end up, especially when the guy was running.
I don't think there's as big a problem with the tire. She had a good reason to keep him from driving around, and didn't have the time to go fooling around under the hood looking for the distributor wire (assuming she knew enough to look for and find it).
hehehe...I'da dropped the wallet on the ground outside my door and waited until he bent down to grab it before I swing open the door with all my might. ;-D

At my airport, in Manassas, Va, (HEF, for those pilots out there) there is a stop sign right after you enter the security gate, warning you to stop right there (preventing any "two-fers"), until the gate closes behind you. Should be SOP for any secure facility, IMHO.
