FLORIDA EXIT POLLS ON EARLY VOTING?

Posted on 10/19/2004 10:02:55 AM PDT by Greek

I am just wondering if there is any "exit polling" being done in Florida. Both camps are testing out their GOTV strategies so this might be an early indication....

I was just thinking this. I am sure we will see some polling on this very soon.

If there is, I doubt very seriously any of the networks will report it. They all really screwed up with exit polling in 2000. You can be they're going to play it really close to the vest this time around.

By a 4 to 1 margin, Florida voters are against needless, wasteful vanities.

Early voter exit polling would be meaningless. I can't imagine any firm is doing it.

I share your sentiments. Just looking at the early voting pattern in Florida suggests 1,000 attorneys, Jesse and Al (Sharpton, not Gore) are down there to insure all registered, deceased, illegals, disenfranchised, you name it, Democrats are voting.

I can't remember the technical title, but in 2000 I was asked by our republican district chair to serve as a monitor at a local precinct. What the job entailed was, head down there with a list of republican voters and cross check it with the list of people who had voted.

Then I got on the phone and tried targeting those who hadn't yet.

But I was operating on a short timeline. I had a matter of hours to work with before the polls closed. With early voting, I think party operatives are hoping to better focus their efforts on areas where they think they have the strongest support.

The concern is, of course, more time for Democrats to cheat.

We need to be up by a lot since the early Bush voters will not be back on Nov. 2 for a retry.

My wife and I voted today, Friday, Oct 22nd. There was a considerable line and about an hour wait, but I didn't see anyone change their minds and leave before voting. We vote in Okaloosa County, which is in the Florida panhandle and went for Bush by one of the biggest margins of any county in the country (74% for Bush, 24% for Gore in 2000). So the number of people voting here was an encouraging sign for Bush that his voters are motivated.
