Peace Wackos Apologize
October 19, 2004
There's a group of peace wackos out there folks, called "the Fellowship of Reconciliation." They've begun a campaign to supposedly show what Americans like you and I are really like. They are sending Iraqi citizens photos of themselves with personal apologies for U.S. military action.
The father of Nick Berg, the young man beheaded by Islamic terrorists earlier this year, sent a photo with a message saying: "I am sorry and ashamed for the tremendous loss my government has caused the Iraqi people. I truly feel that what the United States government has done to the once-sovereign nation of Iraq is atrocious and shameful." Eleven people in Vancouver, Washington photographed themselves with a banner that says: "With deep shame, we apologize for the suffering our country has brought to the people of Iraq."
Now this causes a visceral reaction. I mean, these people are not apologizing for me, and they're not telling anyone what Americans are really like. They're talking about their own silly little selves. You know the steep cost of freedom is paid by the blood sacrifice of brave Americans and allies, and increasingly by Iraqis standing up against terrorists. These butchers who behead and the dictators who produce mass graves, they dont apologize or feel shame for what they've done. How repulsive is it that our fight to rid the world of this kind of evil blight prompts apology and shame from people who claim to speak for all of us Americans.
Even if these sorry protesters believe Iraq is the "wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time," their apologies are revolting. They insult the military who have given their lives, and I can assure you they do not represent "what America is really like." Not by a long shot.
WOO HOO!!! Good one!

bump
i worded a small informal msg on the web sight.
I think Nick Berg's father is going through a form of Stockholm Syndrome.
The FOR is an old organization -- co-founded in 1914 by a Quaker and a Lutheran as a pacifist organization. I think it's fair to suggest that they are against the war in Iraq not because of the particulars of that war but because they are, on principle, against all war.
today, I have sent a letter to a soldier I adoped from operation ac, written the Prime Minister a letter thanking him for his bravery and standing behind President Bush. I have sent out emails to Sinclair telling them I am proud of their bravery. Sent 4 letters to wonded soilders, and now mailing my nephew who is a marine. My husband thinks the black helicopters are circling. If they get me, it will be for thanking people..... and telling them I appreicate their service. God Bless America... God Bless President Bush
Funny how these people owe their religious and personal freedom to WAR and our willingness to wage war and die for the lives and liberties of people we shall never meet.
Gold Meir said once that there would be peace in the mid east when Palestianians loved their children more than they hate the Jews. In this case, Mr. Berg hate American and Hate Bush more than he loved his son.
Nick Berg's dad is a lifelong professional putz.....very sorry.
(and I will always wonder exactly what was Nick up to over there)
Not for me.
I feel compelled to apologize to America!! for the foolishness of these few, and their hurtful comments!!!
Mike Berg, in the news *again!* Grrrrrrrrrrr......
Thanks I got it.
woot!!

All too true. Once upon a time I was a pacifist, but then (in my mid 20s) I happened to read the Schirer book, Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. That disabused me of my pacifism in a hurry. Now, I am a (conservative) Episcopalian, and I understand the theory of a just war.
I respect that and even those that will not defend themselves from agression but when so called pacifist endager my life and liberty, now I have a bone to pick.
I come from a very peacefull, simple people but when history called upon us to be warriors my nation answered.
So Rush is saying that in this country Nick Berg's father does not have the freedom to react as he truly feels?
