According to my searches on
West-Point.org, Johnson IS listed as a member of the West Point Class of 1965. You can see his picture at
This Location.

Johnson is in the 4th row, 4th from the left with a large A on his jacket.
Things are checking out on this guy. I verified VVAW representation AND West Point class status. The Coast to Coast AM thing was simply his theories about Greek art and how it related to the Bible. Not necessarily tin foil, UFO, ghostly apparition stuff that is the usual stuff on that program.

Got your dates and presidents wrong. Jimmie Carter did the fix in 1978, not Clinton in 2001. Jimmie Carter once again proved that he was the worst president of the 20th century.

Ya, it is. And in all honesty, I protested against the war, But then Enlisted.
Maybe had the politicos left it to the Military, we'd had won long before I was of age.
The war ended after I got back over and that was that. What I learned was, If your going to fight a WAR, then fight it, no holds barred. Some thing sKerry doesn't understand.

kabar did not address the reissue of sKerry's medals at the same time as the board of officers issued the discharge. This would have not been required if they had not been revoked by some prior DOD action--such as a DD or a BCD.

I'm trying to understand these allegations. I think I have the general gist of it, but one thing I don't understand. I read about this the other day and in that piece, and here as well, there are references to Kerry getting his discharge in 2001 from Clinton. Wouldn't that be the wrong year? The other article/post (from a Navy SEAL group) referred to Clinton's scandal years as the time this occurred, but that would be much earlier than 2001. Clinton was gone by 2001, anyway. Can you clarify this for me? I've read versions of it many times and this has always puzzled me. If the discharge was in 2001, wouldn't Pres. Bush have had to be involved? That can't be right. I've also read references to Pres. Carter being involved in this, through actions directed toward draft dodgers during his administration. But the 2001 reference always throws me. What am I missing?
Another question I have is why Kerry's records aren't subject to FOIA. I thought other veterans' were. Can anyone shed light on this? Is there any hope this will come out pre-election?

Officers served as tunnel rats. They were chosen mostly on size and other charateristics, and rank was mainly irrelevant.

Nice work. Did you happen to notice that third from the left in the seond row is former Army Chief of Staff General Eric Shinseki?

No, but in my Googling I did see that Shinseki graduated in the same class as Johnson. I didn't mention it as I didn't think it was relevant. It is interesting that he not only graduated in the same class, but was in the same company.

I recognize that location at West Point. Back door of Pershing Barracks which was my barracks for my middle two years there. Memories. Class of 85.

>> I and many other vets were very angry at our government. We had experienced horror, terror, trauma, and grief in a no-win war and couldn't see the reason for it. We felt betrayed by our government and our military leaders.
They were betrayed. Robert S. McNamara (SecDef) was the most responsible for no-win policies, but he had plenty of help in the Kennedy-Johnson ranks. Those policies stretched the war and its carnage for at least several years. In the end, the cowardice and mismanagement in the top ranks of government threw out everything that our service people worked and fought and died for.

"Ya, it is. And in all honesty, I protested against the war, But then Enlisted."
I lived throught the VietNam era too. I was at first for it as stopping communism seemed like a good thing, then against as happened to many.
Stopping international communism in 1965 was a good idea. Of course while they had tried to subvert our institutions, no communists nor communist nation had attacked the US. That meant while noble stopping communism in Southeast Asia was not strictly a US problem.
Now in the current situation, the Islamofascist like the militarists of WWII have attacked the US. So I see it as required that the US respond like in WWII not optional as in VietNam.
