Perhaps mom was benefitting financially from young Quantrell's
'business' dealings. If he had a history of drug arrests, then what was going on in the house that a young boy would be out doing drugs and probably dealing it as well.

If he had coke and was stupid enough to swallow it, then bye bye. If mom knew her son had cocaine, maybe she should have done something about it before he was stupid enough to swallow it. Sounds like mom wants to sue to get money to buy more cocain herself. Must be a wholesome family.

Some things you break and cant fix. Knowing what to protect is what separates the men from the boys.

How would they know what he swallowed? Now they are supposed to have xray vision? Wonder how long it takes to get permission to have a person taken to a hospital and xrayed/checked for drug ingestion against their will. I'm sorry for the parents but they are wrong to blame the police.

EVEN IF THEY SAW HIM SWALLOW, GOOD FOR HIM.. THEY STILL ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS CRIME OR STUPIDITY.

Mrs. Mark, perhaps you should think about how many Mother's children die from people like Pryor the pusher.
You don't know how many he may have already killed. How many kids lives has he ruined?

Especially when you write a book purporting to tell other parents about how a successful parent raises their children.

This moron family is just playing the victim lottery. Their particular brand of stupidity is evidently hereditary. Their million$ suit is against their fellow citizens, not against the city. The taxpayers get to pay the awards.
Government never has and never will "create" money.

What do you think would be the effect on this suit if there are a few dozen countersuits filed by individual taxpayers against the idiot family personally for having raised idiot children, and attempting to extort money for injury sustained during the commission of a crime?

If the department had a policy in place covering such an instance and the officers didn't follow that policy, then a successful law suit is in the making.

Maybe. I am sure they questioned him as to what he swallowed. If he repeatedly said he did not swallow cocaine then I would cut the cops a great amount of slack. Of course it should be assumed he was lying.

If the story is accurate, the mother was present.
If she failed to tell the police that the swallowed substance was cocaine, she should be charged with manslaughter and aiding in the commission of a felony.

If the brat swallowed dope but denied that he did, the police really don't have to procure medical treatment until the perp is in obvious distress - but by that time it can be too late.

On the other hand, can the police force someone to accept medical care based upon an assumption?

This is just another classic example of the flip-flop expectations that liberal citizens place upon the police.

Since when are 16 year olds ever held accountable for their crimes. Don't you know it's everyone elses fault, excepting the parents of corse.

Attorney Reed told press, "I want the people to know, Quantrell was somebody. Quantrell has a family. He was not an animal, and he didn’t deserve to die like an animal."

Not surprisingly, when a scumbag bottom-dweller is quoted, I disagree with him totally.

I believe the direct opposite.

LOL

I'm old enough to know better, 26 :)

All apologies.

I'm sick, fedex is 1 hr late, which puts me 1 hr behind schedule with my client, which puts me 1 hr behind schedule for leaving tonight for a conference, which puts me in rush hour.

:( I know, I know, no sympathy for the jerk!

It is that kind of thinking which pushes societies into a downward spiral into lawlessness.
Then some dictator takes control, and mass killings take place.

If they did see him swallow cocaine and didn't take him to the hospital and kept him in custody, then they should be sued.

You just earned your PerpDefender Class I badge ...
