I think Mort meant to say that Bush scares TERRORISTS more than Kerry.

And in the same vein, Kerry no doubt disgusts voters more than Bush.

I recently got my elderly Democrat mother to sit down and go point by point on political issues and she said "If the truth be told, I agree on many points with the Republicans." Then she added, "And Ernie said if the truth be known he agrees on many points with Republicans." [ Ernie is my angry commie liberal socialist VN vet brother in law. Married to my angry commie liberal socialist lawyer sister. ]

I think one BIG probleim in Okla, where they live, is that you actually have to register as a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent. In Texas we just register. It is much easier here to switch parties. So people can do that without going to the court house or telling ANYONE. It is a bigger deal in Okla. Probably that way by design, back when Democrats were in power there. sigh.....

I thought the point of FR was to post articles like this so we could discuss it - it's good to know what going on, on all sides...

Me too. I guess we are wrong. We are here to be brain washed so we will accept everything on faith.

I think Kerry does a better job of scaring, just look at his face.

"Mort's taken a left hand turn recently. At first he was outraged at Kerry's comments about Cheney's daughter and now he's said that anyone who was offended by the comments are homophobes."

Oh ok, so he's like a John Kerry with his before and afters or before and againsts?

I"t could be because this leader, Bush, doesn't come in the package she envisions a leader to be."

And Kerry does? That is scary lol.

"If you look in many of those same polls where Bush is deemed a more effective leader and better able to win the war on terror and deal with the economy, and deal with Iraq, Bush still is tied with Kerry. You can see that in this mornings Rassmussen and Zogby polls. How do you explain that?"

I might be wrong about this, but I believe the horse race poll only considers responses from those deemed likely voters. The other results are from all registered voters.

The same in Louisiana, where my 91 year old mom lives. However she will vote Bush. I live in Texas, and register Republican.

When I asked the PhD all the right questions, she came across like a Conservative Republican - I called her a closet Republican. She had a strange look in her eyes as I walked away.

I have been noticing that Mort has been sounding very 'fair' to Pres. Bush; I hadn't heard about this latest change. He is just reverting back.

Poor Mort -- he can never really figure out what's going on until after he reads the New York Times and the DNC talking points.

The Terrorists used the halcyon (for Terrorists) Clinton
years to build up for 9/11. Of course, they hit here
and there with no call to answer for it. Like Uday or
Qusay Hussein reportedly said at the end for them, "I fear this is the end.
Bush is not like Clinton."
