Sheriff: Man Says He Was Hired to Provide Phony Voter Registrations
(10/18/04 - Defiance, Ohio) Defiance County authorities said today they have arrested a man on a felony charge of submitting phony voter registration forms. Sheriff's officers say they are looking into allegations that the man was paid with crack cocaine in exchange for compiling the bogus forms. Authorities said 22 year-old Chad Staton of Defiance had fraudulently filled out more than 100 voter registration forms. He is free on his recognizance to await arraignment Friday in Defiance Municipal Court.
No other charges have been filed in the case. But, officers said they interviewed a Toledo woman who claimed that she had paid Staton with cocaine for the phony voter registrations. Officers said they took voter registrations and drug paraphernalia from the Toledo woman's home. The woman said she had been recruited by a Cleveland man to obtain voter registrations. Authorities said the phony registrations were submitted to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in Cleveland by the NAACP's National Voter Fund. There's no comment from George Forbes, Cleveland chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Why did his name have to "Chad"????
Excellent. Book 'em Danno!
OOPS: Why did his name have to BE "Chad"???? You get the idea.
Why? If he had $2000 in parking tickets he would be in jail.
They have their "crack" reporters working on it.
Will this help Bush in Celveland???
And how many of them are looking for a way to tie this to the Republicans?
It might helped if we tried to get Trivisonno to talk about this. Also, the WTAM News department, Ohio's largest radio station, has always been responsive when I call.

I hope they have him on suicide watch and take away any belts or ties. Otherwise, he'll be a . . . ?
Chad from Difiance?
Well, I guess Kerry is the clear choice for crackheads.
Absolutely. We have every reporter trying to tie this to the Republicans. Of course, if we can't do that, the story will be buried on page C-47 under the personal ads.
If it gets enough play, I would think there could be some backlash with the ethnic Reagan democrat types. It will be very interesting to see how the very leftwing Cleveland Plain Dealer handles this "delicate" story.
They'll "crack" this case wide open! They've got a "Pipe" line right to the source! I know they will get lots of "Vial"-uable information!
OK, I'm done now...
I 'll bet he's sick of people asking him "How's it hanging?"
crack for votes? what a waste of perfectly good crack!
Once again the Black man is being used and abused, even by their own. There never was a free lunch in America, for anuone, all I can say is what I do and what I believe. Listen to your Heart and follow it, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People may be promising you the world on a silver platter, just listen to your heart. Be your own man and women.
There's no comment whenever they're caught doing any manner of illegal and underhanded shenanigans, but if it were a Republican doing it they'd be holding their trademark sickeningly self-righteous press conferences around the clock.
