The showing of "Stolen Honor" was cancelled in the Baederwood Cinema (Philadelphia suburb) because of the threat of a lawsuit. The theater will refund all money for tickets purchased.
The brown shirts win another one.
I'm a little confused about what kind of lawsuit could prevent the movie being shown in a theatre.
Veteran Files Libel Suit Against Director Of Anti-Kerry Film
Legal Action Threatened Against Sinclair
POSTED: 11:58 am EDT October 18, 2004
PHILADELPHIA -- A Vietnam veteran shown in a documentary that criticizes U.S. Sen. John Kerry's anti-war activities has filed a libel lawsuit against the movie's director.
Delaware, said the film falsely calls him a fraud and a liar.
In the suit, Campbell said the documentary, titled "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," combines footage of him appearing at a 1971 war protest with narration that claims that many of the supposed veterans who took part in the event were later "discovered as frauds" who "never set foot on the battlefield, or left the comfort of the States, or even served in uniform."
The suit said viewers would be left with the perception that Campbell had lied about his military service.
The suit names the film's producer, Carlton Sherwood, and his company, Red White and Blue Productions, as defendants.
Campbell's lawyer is also threatening legal action against Sinclair Broadcast Group, an owner of 62 television stations that has announced that it intends to pre-empt regular programs to broadcast "Stolen Honor" before the election.
Campbell attached copies of his military records to the suit, showing that he received the Purple Heart and eight other medals, ribbons and decorations for his service in Vietnam.

Another thread on lawsuit.

Stolen Honor is being shown at a movie theater?
See the, "THEY BETTER HOPE WE DON'T WIN" thread posted below.

This is not surprising. Baderwood is near Abington and Jenkintown, a highly liberal, very Jewish suburb of Philly. The owner of the theater was trying to backout days ago. I am surprised they picked that area in the first place to premier it. Not thought out very well!
Me too. Very sad.
Why can't there be an AIDS like fast-acting disease that only affects lawyers?
This might be someone trying to start a rumor, I read today that one of the guys in the film tried to sue because he was one of the guys shown but that he didn't speak, he doesn't want people to think he lied, the judge said to bad because they didn't single him out in the film.
Who was the "genius" that decided to announce Stolen Honor on "Sinclair" over three weeks before the showing? Silly. Might not be shown at all, withdrawal successfully framing the movie as a Bush dirty trick in the first place.
It's not as if it weren't predictable. The MSM has vigorously guarded any fair examination of Kerry's military claims, and ignored his post-war almost altogether.
Not even a story mildly complaining that Kerry didn't release all his military records unlike Bush.
"Stay the course!"
Can't they just blur Campbell out of the scene or something?
It would not surprise me if the rumor wasn't started by the left. It seems that they thrive on gossip
Well .. they couldn't intimidate Sinclair, so they're going for the small, independent owners ..??
You have to consider that if this is an independent theater owner, he/she may not have the funds to fight such a lawsuit and still remain in business.
THIS IS A BUSINESS DECISION - not a political one.
Besides, Sinclair has stations in PA don't they .. so it's not a total loss .. the film is going to be shown anyway.
Baederwood just lost my going to them, for a long time.
