Israel is preparing for military action against Iran's Bushehr nuclear reactor and other nuclear facilities, including underground plans and storage depots, US defense officials say.

Officials said a transfer of 5,000 bombs in Israel is likely preparation for the attacks.

From my small corner of the world, the following events happened after the Shah departed:
- Russia went in to Evanston
- Pakistan became more unstable
- The 8 year Iran - Iraq war, (A war occurred when Iran was under the Shah, Saddam Hussein had withdrew his forces and backed down in just a few days)
- Iraq invaded Kuwait
- Islamic fundamentalism became more violent
The list goes on and on. As I said in a previous post, the Shah was the stabilizing military force in the Middle East.

And as far as the Panama Canal that was another travesty put upon the American people.

Purchasing arms from someone is a far cry from working together on a specific mission.

I'm sure you're able to see the difference.

By your logic, wal-mart is complicit in 9/11, since they supplied the box cutters.

You are right on the money. I believe some recent deployments are exactly that.

'Refueling? I don't think the Israelis have long range bombers'

Israel just took delivery of new F-16s (I or L?). Got them now.

I have been advocating an Israeli strike on Iran for many years. However, Israel has been making diplomatic attempts to get Russia to cease its help on the project and she too tried to get the World body to act. Six years later, the World still has not awakened to the threat from Iran. Israel, must act immediately to survive. Someone high up in the Israeli government has already stated that by November it is a point of no return for Iran's nuclear program. An October surprise? I pray YES.

'Most of the attack would come from submarines. If there are 15 targets that we want to hit two or three times, subs are the logical vehicle.'

Unless they are hardened targets.

They also acquired F-15i's six years ago with an additional fuel tank attachment just for long range missions.

'It's going to require heavy, heavy ordnance- think MOAB'

Think again. Think penetration., then blast effects.

I agree with you, Israelis have the means and the will. Only way they don't do it is if the US precipitates the change via the bomb or by enabling the revolution.

After Kerry attacked Bush for not doing enough to counter Iran, one may think a bold Bush would then feel vindicated in bombing Iran before the election, however, that is wishful thinking.

Again, diplomatic efforts will not work unless Iran immediately allowed U.S. inspectors into the country to seize all nuclear weapon development equipment, not likely.

Post election victory, here is the best scenario: Drop Liberator .45s to blanket the countryside. Same night, Squadron flyoff from Whiteman and any deployed sites with 20 1000# JDAMs. Start with the head maximum loser in Iran, give his house two, work your way through the next 99 high value human target homes, combine with Commando Solo broadcast for uprising, back as needed by Spec Ops and Naval Air. Let Iranians participate in their own emancipation. With the mullahs dead, Iran would be hard pressed to invade themselves.

Oh, I guess that's why most in the Mid East wouldn't think of Israel as being a puppet of the United States.

I can't imagine what I was thinking.

Just curious, why do you think we sold them a bunch of fighter planes? To attack the Australians maybe?

First you state this.

The Israelis just took a delivery for over 100 F-16i, which have range to Iran

Then this.

I seriously doubt the USA would be complicit in an Israeli attack on Iran. That would simply everything the arabs have tried to claim for years.

And now you say this.

Purchasing arms from someone is a far cry from working together on a specific mission.

Hehe.....

He's a highly educated person, but it convinced me that if you scratch a liberal, you'll find an antisemite.)

Your argument falls apart when you consider how many of the same planes have been sold to Arab countries.

Do your homework before responding again :)

Israel will stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons

I agree.

But is this leak to be believed? Why would the Israelis hint at an attack in advance? I would expect them just to do it one day, without warning.

It may not be so easy to transfer 5000 large bombs secretly.
