I think Mrs. Edwards is use to saying whatever she wants and not being held accountable.

IMO, I think that Mrs. Edwards was brought out in an attempt to shift the focus away from Kerry-Edwards. It was supposed to have gotten everyone asking if the Cheney's were actually ashamed of Mary. Kinda reminds me of one of my kids getting into trouble and trying to get out of it by pointing the blame of why it happen at the other.

You're correct. I went to an encyclopedia to make sure I had McCarthy spelled right, saw that they wrote about his anti-communist campaign in the Senate, except I didn't catch this was the next entry after Eugene Joseph! Duh

If you listen to Kerry say it: "If you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, ...." you will notice that he all but SWALLOWS the "who is a lesbian" clause. Clearly, it was pre-rehearsed, and clearly, he was uncomfortable saying it, but did it anyway because his handlers told him to do so. What a pathetic loser Kerry is.
