It's news to me. And, surprisingly, I'm not surprised....
Dear sartorius,
I think Steve Kellmeyer at Bridegroompress.com may be a little optimistic.
But I could be wrong. :-)

Dear b4its2late,
"It's news to me."
Okay. Many of us who peruse the Religion Forum have been following it since its inception.

O'Malley is underwhelming.
Dear Sitetest:
First off this is news to me and didn't see it posted here and thought others would be interested...
Maybe the moderator should change the title to "Kerry Charged with Heresey in Boston ArchDiocese".
Are you okay with that...? Just want to make sure that I get your blessing...
Dear sartorius,
Well, however it turns out, I think it will take a little while longer.
But, I was under the impression that in filing a case in the tribunal, that the archbishop will appoint the judges, but may not necessarily be one of them. Thus, Archbishop O'Malley could appoint some judges, they could make their ruling, yea or nay, and he could wash his hands of the outcome.
I've pinged a few folks who know a ton more than me about this stuff.

What happens to Catholics who vote for him?
Thank you for the apt description of our new shepard. It's like they went to Central Casting to get someone who'll pass as a pious man.
Dear ARA,
"Are you okay with that...? Just want to make sure that I get your blessing... "
It's really up to the mods, not me.
But the title gives the impression that the Archdiocese of Boston has charged Mr. Kerry with heresy.
That's just completely false.
A layperson has filed suit against Mr. Kerry IN the Archdiocese of Boston.
Frankly, when I looked at the title, I'd hoped that Archbishop O'Malley had picked up Mr. Balestrieri's case and made it his own. But that's not what happened. Your title is false.
Furthermore, it is usual FR policy to avoid making up our own titles for posts when the article or piece posted has its own title. Which is why I suggested the title that I did. It is the actual title of the document to which you linked.
If you have a problem with that rule, perhaps you could take it up with Jim Robinson.

You can thank me for that grooved pitch later ;)
That's an excellent article. I don't expect the USCCB to do anything about it at their November meeting.
They will play golf, drink expensive whiskey, shoot the breeze for a week, and, in general, act like a bunch of smoky backroom Democrats.
Then they will come out with some earth-shattering pronouncement about removing kneelers from the churches.
Bishops-> Skulls-> Floor of Hell
A Catholic who knowingly votes for a politician who is pro-abortion, can be in a grave state of sin. (mortal)
