True. He was telling a story just now about speaking with a woman who believed in the war, but would not want to see her child drafted, and how hypocritical that was of her. I wanted to scream at the TV.
OK, number one, I don't think any parent WANTS to see their child in harms way, but would support their decision to defend our country. Furthermore, the ones who have chosen to enlist make that decision as adults. There are no CHILDREN in our military.
As always, Williams takes a statement and twists it out of context to suit his purposes.
I don't want my children drafted either. The Military isn't the place to play nanny for brats. We want a volunteer Military without these weak spined ninnies diluting the pool. Don't want the type that call home to mommy crying that the Military wants to send them on a dangerous mission either.
Wish they'd put some Marine wives I know on. I personally have my line all thought up: "Well Juan, as you know our Marines are some tough SOBs. My particular Marine has reminded me that they knocked down our f-ing trade centers and it's his job to kill as many of them as he can. So Juan, with that in mind, remember, these are not children. They are not victims. They really don't need JOURNALISTS protecting them. And don't you forget it."
