The fact that Kerry got an honorable discharge in 78 means that it was something other than honorable to begin with.I don't know about the Navy but in the Army soldiers that were discharged for discipline reasons that did not warrant a dishonorable discharge received a General discharge.A general Discharge could be upgraded at a later date after a period of good behavior and a review by some sort of board. The only other possible reason for that date could be reenlistment's or extensions but that doesn't make sense because because it would show multiple honorable discharges because you would have one for every reenlistment or extension.

"serious questions as to why John Kerry only received an honorable discharge through the act of then President Carter, seven years after his discharge, and had to have all of his military citations reissued, on the same day, when he became a United States Senator in 1985. "O'Neill's comment after the ABC interview.

I think that this should be explored and that Kerry should be made to release his records regardless of the election results. If and when Bush wins, it could still be a reason to get him out of the Senate. If Kerry (God forbid) wins, then it would be a definite cause for impeachment I would think, especially the visits to Paris.

Officers do not reenlist. They can extend the tour on active duty as a reservist or national guard officer if there is a need by the military service. If I were a betting man, I would surely say kerry received a less than hnorable discharge for the Navy. Jimuh carter the commie punk help this anti-american traitor have his discharge up-graded. Carter and Kerry two POE's. Bush/Cheney 2004
