I heard an interview with the guy who wrote "Losing Bin Laden", and he said his kidney condition is a myth. I can't remember his exact explanation, but somehow a rumor started suggesting he had a kidney problem, and OBL let the media run with it.
There's not that much equipment for home dialysis. I could have opted for that but you have to do it every night and drain it once during the day. It's easier just to go to the dialysis center (is there one in Tora Bora???) and let them do it for you.
