I heard an interview with the guy who wrote "Losing Bin Laden", and he said his kidney condition is a myth. I can't remember his exact explanation, but somehow a rumor started suggesting he had a kidney problem, and OBL let the media run with it.
Do you remember, sometime in late 2001 - early 2002, that there was a shipment of contaminated (poisonous) dialysis filters from a US company that somehow ended up in Croatia? (Lots of people died)
