DUBAI, Oct 16 (AFP) - A statement attributed to the group of Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, Iraq's most-wanted man, claimed on Saturday that it had beheaded 11 members of the Iraqi police and national guard.
"Today alone, your brethren were able to decapitate 11 apostates ... affiliated to the so-called national guard and police force," said the statement attributed to the military wing of the Tawhid wal Jihad (Unity and Holy War) group and posted on one of the main Islamist websites.
The authenticity of the statement could not be confirmed, nor could the claim of beheadings be verified.
The statement did not give details, but a headline introducing it said the group had "killed 11 apostates" on Baghdad's Haifa street, the site of frequent clashes between US forces and insurgents.
Zarqawi is blamed for some of the deadliest bombings in Iraq as well as for gruesome killings of foreign hostages and Iraqis accused of "collaborating" with US-led forces. He has a 25-million-dollar US bounty on his head.

Hmmm, I wonder what effect THIS will have in the much feared and overly discussed "Muslim Street"?
To: TexKat
They really need to raise the bounty and get that evil bastard. One of his comrades will turn if the price is high enough.

I wonder how the Iraqis feel about the fact that a Jordanian is in charge of these atrocities...

I hope that this strengthens the resolve of the Iraqi national guard and police force. We need them to be strong.
To: McGavin999
You may be right, maybe it's true and yes Al Zarqawi is a lunatic. I didn't think they had 11 prisoners living. How did they get 11 Iraqi police all at once? Am I missing something?

Eleven in one day, I find that hard to believe. I don't. These are heartless killers trying to prove a point/points. One of those points is just how much they hate us and anyone that assist us.

Wasn't an offer extended from Falujah just in the past day or so for us to stop bombing, and they would "negotiate"?
O.K. fine. So we negotiate. :-) They have 6 hours to turn over the murderous Jordanian. Then we go back to bombing.

However Haifa street is in Baghdad, not Fallujah.

Yes, it breaks my heart that he's blind in one eye and losing the sight in the other. That's a real man. I hope they can find some way to restore his sight.
