(antiTainment) Fox News has asked a judge to allow them to fire the woman that sued talk show host Bill O'Reilly for sexual harassment and to declare that the firing not be classified as retribution.
Andrea Mackris, is an associate producer for "The O'Reilly Factor" on the cable news network. Last Wednesday, the network and O'Reilly sued her and her attorney, Benedict Morelli, claiming that they had tried to extort $60 million in "hush money" from the controversial host in return for her dropping her harassment case. The 33-year-old Mackris filed the sexual harassment suit against O'Reilly the same day.
Mackris alleges that O'Reilly made sexual comments, including three "phone sex" calls, to her beginning in 2001, and that the comments increased after she returned to Fox in July after a short-lived position with CNN.
Some of the alleged comments include the talk-show host reportedly encouraging her to use a vibrator and during a phone call in September told her "Next time you'll come up to my hotel room and we'll make this happen."
In a weird twist, O'Reilly's attorney, Ronald Green, believes that Mackris has tapes of her conversations with O'Reilly. Green has the court to have Mackris produce the tapes so they can be aired publicly. "I know that he does not fear what is on the tapes," Green said according to the Detroit Free Press.
Aside from the extortion accusation, O'Reilly also alleges that Mackris is politically motivated in her accusations. Claiming that her Democratic lawyer are trying to embarrass him and the Fox News Channel in the weeks running up to the Presidential election.
"The O'Reilly Factor" is the top rated program on cable news.
Folks, could it be that we are witnessing the end of feminist false accusation activism against our economy and marriage? Granted, Bill "Lefty" O'Reilly is an effeminate liberal and a perv, but the workplace is no place for huge lawsuits by seductive women!
Gentlemen, start your employment engines!
I'm just thankful he's fighting back.
"Lefty" has the ring of truth to it - it might just stick with a little work. LOL
That headline is seven words too long.
Im with you...he has really been a hypocrite if even ONE of her charges are true...
Bingo! My thoughts, too. Fire 'em both and be done with it. I'll bet no one will notice.
I'd rather they fire O'Reilly and replace him with Hume or Snow.
Whatever, it should be noted that during her short stint at CNN, her boss there was terminated for Sexual Harrassment! Maybe she was not the principle complainant but I bet she sure got some OTJ training!
I doubt it.
I'd like to hear the phone tapes to hear her contribution to the conversation. Her lawyer, btw, is far south of sleazy on the scum meter. I wouldn't have been surprised to see toilet paper hanging out of his pocket. She must have had to dive into the sewage systm to find him.
Heehee.

It's called Put up or Shut up. Obviously if they have anything on tape, she had to be trapping him and it would show on tape. OTOH, maybe there are no tapes and FOX wants to call their bluff soon instead of having this drag out.

Ditto. Fire 'em both, and the loofah they rode in on. ;)
"and the loofah they rode in on"
Bwahahahaha!!! Eeeewwww!!!!
I always wondered why O'Reilly began suddenly vearing to the left. I think his knowledge that this was coming is as good an explanation as anything. I wonder if Dan Rather will cover this or give him a pass? In any event, I don't think O'Reilly's strategy is going to work. Like pirranas, their all going to want a piece of his ratings.
On first reading of this I thought it said 'Fox wanted to fire O'Reilly!'. . .
Brit is great; Snow OK; but both pale as mental midgets compared to Charles Krauthammer! Of course, none of them would do this show and for different reason. . .
That said. . .John Gibson is good and fiesty; and fearless.(forget the hair thing). . .I think he could 'take em on'.
I think they should FIRE Mr. O'Slimmy. After watching him insult and make sexual comments to Ann Coulter the other night I for one have had enough of him.
I guess Ms. Mackris will just have to back to CNN or MSNBC and hope for the best. Single thousands (If that!) from Fox. Instead of $60,000,000. If she's lucky!
Jack.
Geez. Most people who received a phone call from someone they didn't want to talk to would hang up. "Phone sex" infers that sex....ummmm, stuff....took place over the telephone. How can that be, unless two people consented to do so. If one of those people brought it up later as harrassment then it could only be construed that the call was a set up or at least two of the parties found it gratifying at the time and one later decided to use it against the other party when she decided it might have a dollar (lots of dollars) value.
I've seen far too many gold diggers abuse the various criminal domestic violence statutes, rape statutes, and sexual harrassment statutes. It makes it more hard for the women who have legitimate complaints and aren't seeking their 5 minutes of fame.
