Terror alert issued for school bus drivers

Department of Public Safety authorities have put school bus drivers from around the state on a heightened state of alert regarding the possibility of terrorist activity, including those in Payson, Pine and Tonto Basin.

State authorities have asked all school bus drivers to be alert for any possible terrorist activity in the next six weeks.

A Sept. 28 information bulletin from DPS Student Transportation Supervisor Vicki Barnett to PUSD Director of Support Operations Joe Martin, directed bus drivers to "pay particular attention to any unusual activity around school buses; to unusual vehicles; to vehicles repeatedly seen in the vicinity; and, to any vehicles or individuals in unauthorized locations."

Watches are a good idea, but in a free society(that we all love and thrive in) you can't prevent mass death at the hands of terrorists if they are among us. Our society is simply a target rich environment, from schools to places of business. The only way to even have a chance against them is to lock down the border, and I mean lock it down.... millitary and mine fields. After locking them out you have to find the ones who are here. Then last but not least you have to find them where they are and where they come from and send them to their next life. Right now we are only doing 1.5 of those 3 things. Anything less than 3 out of 3 will bring another attack.

I just love it when people post a simple plan like yours on the internet to tell the terrorists exactly how to terrorize us and hurt us economically at the same time. It makes their jobs so much easier when they don't have to try to figure out the American psyche and figure out for themselves what might hurt us the most. So thanks for posting that.

Sure terrorists can think up plans. But it's harder to get inside the psyche of Americans. I simply don't want anyone doing anything to assist them with that process. The longer the terrorists focus on our financial institutions and "symbols" of America (Statue of Liberty, etc.), the longer they stay away from our kids.

Or would you rather see on the evening news every night, from Dan Rather: "As long as the terrorists stay away from our kids, I agree with Senator Kerry that it's just a nuisance. But if they start hurting our kids, then I might start taking them seriously."

Did you think they couldn't figure out things like this for themselves? I assure you I didn't get on the internet and suggest that someone might try to hijack airplanes and fly them into the WTC.

We cannot possibly think of things that are more evil and inhumae than they can. All we can really do is be alert and make sure people are aware of the threats that surround them. Public discussion of the threat makes us safer. Ignorance never helps a situation.

Holy Smokes! This has to be in connection with the possibility of Chechen terrorists having crossed the Arizona border from Mexico. There must be alot more to this story than we know. Folks in the Southwest USA should be extra prepared. Check your Freedom Protection Rifles and have ammo ready!

Point somberly taken... I do think though, it may be useful to go to law enforcement with questions like these: "What are you doing to safeguard the school buses in my community?", and give a senario like the one I posted. If the media gave a damn about terrorisim they would put such tough questions to the governemnt, but instead they are too worried about who in the hell lost health insurance, or who Britany Spears is getting to married to this week to bother with such petty issues.
