If you think the "coercion" scenario is too strong, consider: In August 2003, the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Science Foundation announced the results of their $1.2 million taxpayer-funded study. It stated, essentially, that traditionalists arc mentally disturbed. Scholars from the Universities of Maryland, California at Berkeley, and Stanford had determined that social conservatives, in particular, suffer from "mental rigidity," "dogmatism," and "uncertainty avoidance," together with associated indicators for mental illness. Some conservatives and political pundits chortled over the so-called study, but the fact remains that nothing marginalizes a person faster today than a suggestion of being mentally unbalanced. The 20-year-long practice of psychographic (emotional-attitu-dinal) profiling under the cover of academic testing in schools is already intimidating conservative and Christian students and their parents into silence.

Oh yeah. Anyone who has kids in publik skools knows this. This kind of crap has been going on long before either President Bush were in office. My older girls would come home from school complaining about the nosy questions they had to answer. That was many moons ago. Then there was my son. I had to go along with them and take him to a psychiatrist and have him put on meds. He's off the meds now. I took him off off of them acouple of years ago. That's my major complaint with "No Child Left Behind", AKA "all children are pegs and shall fit into the same hole". I have my youngest in a homeschooling program. I've had two visits from CPS at the instigation of my ex husband. The charges are ridiculous. Both investigations were judged to be unfounded. The second worker actually sent me a letter saying that. The first time, I received a phone call stating that they were closing out the investigation, and advised me to seek legal help regarding my ex husband. My kids were taken from the classroom and interviewed without my permission, the first time. I did a lot of reading afterwards. When the second worker came in August, I cited several Amendments stating that she had no right to come to my home. How did I know it was my ex? One of the accusations was "homeschooling". They were still on summer vacation. I'm in the process of a probate sale of the house we're living in. I'm the executrix. Please avoid being one, if you can possibly help it. Btw, all the money goes to one of my aunts. Mom had Alzheimers and changed the will. We're living with my 22 yr old daughter, her bf and their 2 yr old daughter in a 2 bedroom duplex. My daughter is due December 25th. My bf is on the same property, and lives in a one bedroom detached house, and I sleep at his house. This is a different county from where we got the visits. I hope and pray to God that this malignant growth of an ex doesn't call CPS again. Besides my ten yr old daughter (the boy is 17), there are grandchildren that could be snatched. It doesn't matter if nothing is going on in the home, if they want to, they'll find a way. Mr. Sohns' story is so important for all of us. Not just because we care about him and his children, but we need to wake up and realize that this could be us.
