Vanity: My Letter to Joe Scarborough about Lawrence O'Connell

Poor Mr. O'Donnell. If he doesn't hate God and religion, he certainly sounds that way. And almost as bad, he seems to have visceral disdain for Christian believers. On Friday night's Scarborough Country, Mr. O'Donnell seemed to go beserk, it was disturbing to watch, but instructive. O'Donnell's eyes bugged out, he kept on yelling "lesbian, lesbian, lesbian" like a madman.

(I won't say Mr. O'Donnell acted like a B-movie demon who'd been sprinkled with holy water, but he sure was upset.) And he tried his best to keep viewers from hearing what Terry Jeffries had to say by constantly talking over him. I would say, Lawrence O'Donnell lost all common sense and self respect in trying to defend John Kerry's huge blunder.

John Kerry had no business mentioning Mary Cheney's sexual preferences, that was wrong. It would have been just as wrong for President Bush to mention Vanessa Kerry's sex life.

In the future, I think Lawrence O'Donnell should be identified as a Democrat spokesman, not an MSNBC Analyst. "Analyst" implies "thoughtfully objective", Lawrence O'Donnell is certainly not that.

I emailed Thursday evening and Friday evening. At one point last night Pat B said they had been innundated with email from Thursday nights show -- bet it doubled last night -- if not everyone should email whether they watched it or not. That man needs to be barred from NBC and MSNBC.

when Lawrence kept repeating "Lesbian Sex," "Lesbian Sex," "Lesbian Sex," as though he was waving a red flag in Terry's face to get a negative reaction from him.

That is exactly what he was trying to do

Larry's little stunt was an attempt to paint all republicans and gay haters

It dawns on me that perhaps we're being tested by people like O'Donnel for a reason....

then you will appreciate my letter to Viewer Services:

I'm respectfully requesting shows like Hardball and Scarborough find another liberal analyst who isn't on the verge of a total breakdown. I was mortified last night watching Lawrence O'Donnel spew "lesbian sex, lesbian sex, lesbian sex" over and over with obvious glee and his eyes practically bugging out of his head.

Perhaps he found it funny. I, the viewer, did not. I happen to like Scarborough and Pat is great filling in for Joe, but I quit watching Hardball because of guests like Lawrence O'Donnel and Kristina Vandenhuevel; and would hate to stop watching Joe for the same reasons.

I'm not certain if MSNBC has made a conscience decision to drag all it's hosts over to the liberal-side or this is just a fluke? Not all your audience is made of flaming liberals. Your's truly,

and he writes for West Wing. Maybe he's taking the same drugs Sorkin was taking when he was canned last year.

I don't think its a test but rather a call to ITS base to be more obvious, take bigger risks, speak up against Christianity - now is the time to be heard. This anti-Christian and anti-Semitic elevator is moving faster and faster - Bush is so right when he says this is a war between good and evil forces.

I think that the subtlety of Satan has become more overt and you can see it in the democratic/liberal elements. Abortion, trying to get God out of the schools and pledge of allegiance, not to mention the homosexuality that was so taboo only 10 years go. Yes, Satan has tempted and the weak took the bait, just like the prophecies. I don't remember the world being this serious, this insecure and uncertain.

I don't men to offend anyone by this remark, so please don't read into it any further or consider it a bias, just an observation. I think the Anti-Christ is among us (tempted to say Allah) as that is who these radical Islamist terrorists claim to be killing for - they have increased their numbers and are in every country. These terrorists are in the right place in the world at this time and it could easily happen. Have you ever read a transcript of Abu Zarqhawi(sp?) frightening anti-human statements. Anyone who does not believe in Allah should be killed. I don't know much about religion, but wasn't Allah what they believe to be the last coming of Christ and that Jesus was only a prophet? Wouldn't the Anti-Christ have this kind of magnitude? I feel guilty writing this as I'm not educated enough in the religion to make this statement and fear I'm denigrating something holy. I just get these thoughts and everything seems kind of connected. Anybody else get these thoughts?

That's a terrific letter. I'm going to fire off one myself. Lazy gal here too lazy to look up the e:mails for Joe and his boss (who is that?). Anyone have those handy?

Joe's boss is Rick Kaplan, one of Bill Clinton's closest friends.

joe.scarborough@msnbc.com and rick.kaplan@msnbc.com should work. (If they bounce, send to nbc.com instead of msnbc.com.) Don't wate your time on any email address they give out on the air (like plain old joe@msnbc.com); those emails end up getting read by interns, if at all.

Well done. Seems like you and I are on the same page. I doubt that MSNBC will change. They don't seem to get that FOX is winning because they really do seem to care about representing both points of view in a reasonble manner. For example, MSNBC seems to think that Andrea Mitchell is an unbiased analyst. Her politics are obvious. the MSNBC view of fair and balanced is to have a moderate liberal and far left liberal to discuss any particular issue.

Well, I, too, have never felt more strongly this election is about a war between good and evil and the outcome is going to have rampfications in our society for generations to come.

Am I the only one who listens to Andrea Mitchell and wonders why President Bush re-nominated Alan Greenspan to the Fed? why? so he can undermine him by raising interest rates when price increases are due to oil prices out of our control and not rampant inflation?

No way. In Scarborough's case he seems to be making a play for membership in the MSM.
