HAVE A BLESSED WEEKEND EVERYONE!
Kitty Mittens!..Have a wonderful weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend Kitty!!!!!!
Happy Saturday to *ALL* at the Finest! Kitty Mittens, I echo your sweet sentiments on being given a home here at the Finest. This is the best gathering place filled with the best people on all of the Internet!
Thank you ((((((Billie))))))) for making this place as comfortable as you have. And thank you to the (((((((hosts and hostesses))))))))) who have taken on the task of putting up the thread each and every day. Having been a part of that at one time, I can appreciate all of the work and time that goes into it.
I'm enjoying my visit with my daughter - she'll be leaving tomorrow, so we're off to do some serious shopping today!
Have a great weekend everyone!
:-)
What a sweet thing to say, and I know I speak for the others who 'put the threads together everyday' that you all give us the reason to be here! Love your Barney pic! :)
Forgive me for a blanket ping list of recipients, not able to thank individually all those persons who have sent side mail recently. Not yet out of some troubling waters, but want so much to say how wonderful have been all your missives, and feeling the prayers offered for my betterment and that of my grandson.
I have hope next week will see improvement, and I can participate more often.
(Still having some computer problems, too, though.)
Rus, I read the Daily Bread you posted at the end of Thursday's thread for Friday, hailing me.
It, as so many are, was quite timely!
"Take heed to yourself, . . . lest you forget the things your eyes have seen . . . . And teach them to your children. Deuteronomy 4:9"
On Monday when my older son, Steve called, he as a lurker (MedProf) was aware of the great prayer response from The Finest for me, and we discussed how God is strongly weaving together His believers in these days.
I expressed my profound gratitude that although I never provided a physical 'home' for my children, led by God hither and yon all my life, each of the three walks with the Lord - the key to any success in this life!
Any success, of course, is not to be measured in material terms, but riches of the spirit and heart...
In 1957, I left a disastrous marriage to the father of my two sons, then 2 and 3, and although I then lived with my parents in Florida, they wisely made me be the parent, and they just the grandparents.
All parenting and discipline was mine to handle for 4 1/2 years.
God brought along my husband-to-be in 1960, during a recession that made today seem like the Perfect Society - men streamed down to Florida from up North hoping to find any meaningful employment to put food on their families' tables - many upper echelon executives were given expanded responsibilities in order to permanently lay off lower management positions - etc.
In 1961, then, he was such a victim, and in order to marry with the additional burden of Steve and Kevin, then 6 and 7, he reenlisted in the Air Force he'd left in 1958.
I had no reservations, more than qualified to be a great military wife as both a Marine myself and an ex-Navy wife.
The boys (who he adopted as soon as we married) and I joined him on Christmas Eve in 1961 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Our daughter, Jennifer, was born September 30th, 1962, 12 days before the Cuban Missile Crisis - and the day after Christmas 1962, we began the drive through Canada and over the Alaska Highway to Fairbanks, Alaska, our new assignment (for 3 1/2 years)!
Preparing the boys for the move, I sketched while I knew they would miss their friends in Rapid City, they should look forward to the NEW ones God was preparing ahead for them, and to seeing more of God's awesome creations.
In this past Monday's call, then, Steve (now 50 years old) interjected that they indeed always had this sense of 'looking ahead' from my discussions, and thus were able to take each step in their lives with confidence...and especially that they knew the Secret of Life is to know and follow our God...
You now know why my heart is incredibly full, and I take all steps knowing they are ordered by a loving God who bestows that love and grace upon us, no matter how we might have times of regret and failure.
With Him to hold us in His hands all our days, if we but believe in Him and His promises, His strength will become ours whenever needed...
With thanksgiving and fervent praise for our Awesome Father, and His provision of Finest Friends,
~ LadyX
