If you have to stoop to the level of making the sexual orientation of your opponent’s children a campaign issue, then something is fundamentally (emphasis on mentally) wrong with the campaign. Debating the issues is one thing, but besmirching your opponent’s kids tells me that decency was just killed for the entire nation to see. That saddens me most of all.

What else are they going to pull out of the hat in the next two weeks? In the end though, I take heart from this ploy becuase it shows how absolutely desperate they are!

For anyone listening to Glen Beck this morning, he did a slam against Elizabeth Edwards...supposedly she called in (of course it wasn't her!), and he was trying to interview her about the Mary Cheney remark. She was soooo busy eating, stuffing her face, that she couldn't answer his questions. Then Beck played, "Roly Poly, Daddy's Little Fatty' (an old C&W song). Whoa!!

Thirty years ago a young man wanted a political career so badly that he was willing to subject his fellow vets to torture and probably some to death in order to further his ambitions by his testimony. Wednesday we saw this man still willing to sacrifice others for his desires.
I cannot help but wonder how many of those MIA bracelets worn after the Vietnam war were men who died in prison camps as a result of John Kerry's testimony.

So which is it? Are the Cheneys proud of their daughter or ashamed of her? I won't fully understand the Democratic position on this issue until John Kerry espouses both beliefs.

The Slave Party will do anything to win. If they thought they could get away with fomenting an armed revolt to chase Republicans from the ballot box, they would do it.

There is one thing about this we all understand, and Lynn Cheney hit that nail on the head on Thursday when she said Kerry is simply not a good man. Neither is Edwards. What we all understand about this is liberals that aspire to anything close to positions of authority are not good people. For a liberal there can be no boundary, no limit to behavior if it furthers the cause.

The media wing of the Democratic Party is also bloated carrion. Kerry and Edwards can do or say anything and count on the media to filter out the harmful and sweep it under the rug. If this deal had been reversed, the storm in the press would have forced Bush to resign. That's for discussion because Bush wouldn't do it. He is decent.

I've listened to both Cheney's talk of their daughters even in this context. They have never expressed anything but pride in either of their offspring.

It's a waste of time being indignant about the lack of civility on the left...the entire left...including the likes of Rather, Koppel etc. About all that can be done with them is to ignore them. I can hope that Kerry and Edwards lack of decency helps close the book on them in a few close states. It will be nice if they can slither back to oblivion. The problem is they could just win. So perhaps it needs to be enough simply to know they aren't decent people.

her parents seem to be very proud of her," Cahill said.

Mrs. Edwards: it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences

Off hand, without studying all the nuances, I would say that those statements are diametrically opposite.

Looks like the talking points memo is just as unclear as Kerry himself...

How can they be "proud" of a homo?

Maybe they're proud of their daughter first.

This whole discussion was the result of one question during the debate. "Do you think homosexuality is a choice?" Bush flat out said he didn't know. Kerry said he didn't believe it was a choice, but felt that those individuals are born that way.

My question is, if that is Kerry's belief, how come he's also opposed to gay marriage?

Kerry again taking both sides of an issue.

Well the dems did do that in the post civil war era with the KKK and throughout the early part of the 20th century. As you can see a leopard never changes its spots.

There aren't enough lifeboats to save the crew of the Kerry-tanic - they are going down for this and I hope MaryBeth Cahill gets hers for the "she's fair game" remark...It's beyond despicable!

As you can see a leopard never changes its spots.

It was the Slave Party then, and is so now: the party of patricians herding a dumbed down rabble into indentured constituency.
