A question of character - Kerry's first Purple Heart in doubt
Washington Times ^ | 10/15/04 | Martin L. Fackler

Posted on 10/14/2004 11:50:13 PM PDT by kattracks

[snip]

My experiences as a combat surgeon in Vietnam (Dec. 10, 1967 to Dec. 11, 1968) and also as a forensic consultant for the past two decades, however, lead me to the conclusion that Mr. Kerry's first Purple Heart award is his most serious problem. The recent revelation of the use of falsified documents (by CBS and Dan Rather) might not be the first time such a technique has been used. During Mr. Kerry's four-month tour in Vietnam, which he presents as his principal qualification to be president of the United States, his application for his first Purple Heart award was disapproved by both his commanding officer and the doctor who evaluated his wound. Yet he somehow managed to get that award. How?

[snip]

If Mr. Kerry fails to clear up before the election the question about how he got his first Purple Heart, voters intending to vote for him must consider the possibility that they could be voting for a man who might, sooner or later, be shown to have falsified his naval records to obtain a medal he didn't deserve — which is a federal crime. The fact that he used that medal to get out of Vietnam after only four months — while the rest of us served our full year — would greatly magnify the disgrace of such a crime. I think that every American citizen would find a replay of the impeachment of a sitting president to be extremely distasteful.

Who cares. I've made up my mind. Even if I thought his character was perfect his policies are so stupid I could never vote for him.

Wrong on Vietnam.
Wrong on the Nuclear Freeze.
Wrong on the Soviet Union.
Wrong on the Sandanistas.
Wrong on the first Gulf War.
Wrong on current Iraq situation.
Wrong on France
. Wrong on Poland.
Wrong on the UN.
Wrong on Kyoto.

And that's just international issues. He's been MORE WRONG on domestic stuff. He could be a saint and I'd still oppose him. Lets talk about issues!!

Dead Horse

What I am meaning (but didn't say well) was that the STORY is dead

in the MSM!

I don't feel there will be enough interest shown by them in the next three weeks to chANGE any undecided (or KERRY) minds.

Of course, to us CHOIR members, it is a great re-inforcement on what WE'VE known for a LONG, long time!!!

why would the DNC nominate a loser like Kerry?

Actually, it was the voters who put forth Kerry as their candidate in the primaries after Howard Dean made an ass of himself.

Thanks for the correction, if his first marriage was civil then the church has nothing to say about it, except if he is not married in a Catholic ceremony he is "living in Sin and can't receive Communion".

Either was kerry can't say he is a good Catholic as he has.

I don't know if anyone else covered this, I just skimmed the thread.

If you look midway through the second page of sKerry's supposed military record (referenced below) it says "Silver Star with Combat 'V"

There is no Silver Star with combat "V" because a Silver Star IS an award for "Valor," (or as it termed "gallantry.") It can be added (I believe) to a Bronze Star as an additional honor to "meritorious conduct" but never to a Silver Star.

The mere fact of the designation of Silver Star with Combat "V" is, on its face, evidence of fraud. Which the MSM still have never reported.

This is still on sKerry's own website

The doctor who signed off on the first purple heart was somebody who kerry went to later, who didn't serve on the boat, after the doctor who treated him refused to recommend for a purple heart. This stuff was all well documented by the Swift Boat Vets for Truth.

The Silver Star was updated twice, with increasingly lauditory language, the last time decades later and Naval Secretary Lehman whose name is on the document said he never saw or signed any such thing. Everything about this guy screams FRAUD.

Yes, the combat V does not belong on the Silver Star. Why it shows on his records is beyond me because it is clearly wrong.

Kerry's staff has said that Kerry may not have deserved the first Purple Heart. Why hasn't anyone pursued that and asked him to give it up if he didn't feel he deserved it?
