Hey, I've been "unemployed" for over a year, and making a fat living doing consulting work on my own for companies for which I formerly worked as an employee. I am one of Kerry's "1.3 million".

And on a slightly less related note, but still pertinent to Kerry's distortions, I was surprised that W didn't slam back at Kerry about health coverage.
There's a huge difference between not having HEALTH INSURANCE and not having HEALTH COVERAGE. In the US, NOBODY can be denied medical treatment if they go to a hospital. It's federal law. EVERYONE must be treated, regardless of the ability to pay. Of course a hospital is going to try to collect, but if they can't, the loss gets tacked on to the charges of future patients.
So, It's really deceptive to quote the numbers of those who have health insurance. Many of those are students who elect not to have coverage. W should have made that a point. The insurance only defrays the cost to the consumer, it is not what provides the health coverage.

I might also be one of Kerry's 1.3 million. I left a sales position with a newspaper to go back to school and get my business degree with my remaining GI Bill money. In mid Novemebr I will be opening up my own one-man commercial writing business, and I'll still be "unemployed" in Kerry's world.
