I've watched the debate twice and I still believe Bob Schieffer did a good job. He's one of the good guys trying to be fair. Some won't be happy until the likes of Hannity or Rush are moderating.

I disagree. Most of his questions were set ups for Kerry to hit out of the park or land mines for Bush to step on.

leadpenny - this is not so. Even though NRO is a conservative publication they have immense credibility and a reputation to uphold. They are not going to point out bias unless there is a serious question that it was there.

After reading the above article I agree that Schieffer, with a voice that certainly sounded fair, asked Kerry several loaded questions. The back-door draft question was classic old-school media style of taking the talking points from the Democratic platform and dessiminate it Goebbels-style as though it is the widely-accepted truth (since they and their canddidate have repeated it the required number of times).

I would be delighted. That would equal out the Lehrer factor. But I do agree that Schieffer was the best of a sorry lot.

I thought all the debates, including the VP debate, were "fair" enough except for the first one. Lehrer's bias and dislike of Bush was obvious in that one.

I thought last night was another win for Bush. He is in line with the majority of Americans on the issues of taxes, abortion, and gay marriage. In the war on terror, he has strengthend defenses at home, and he is on the offensive abroad. He has made major changes to improve education by holding schools accountable so that people are not handed a diploma they can barely read. Seniors will pay less for prescription drugs. 1000 border patrol personel have been added. He has been tougher on criminals.

These are just some of the things President Bush has done in his first 4 years in the Whitehouse. I think some Amerians were shocked to find we had elected a President who actually says what he means, and does something about it.

Compare this to sKerry's pitiful 20 year record in the Senate. John Kerry has been on the wrong side of America all his life.

The choice is clear. George W. Bush should be reelected.

Sounds like an exceptional idea to me! It's about time the shoe was placed on the other foot. These guys have been given a pass for the most part. I'd love to see 'em squirm when confronted by Rush or Hannity. I'd pay real money for that! Now that's entertainment!

Oh please. Any doubt as to BS's bias is erased by his minimum wage question. He could have asked the question without the loaded introduction, and let the candidates spin, but he chose to spin first and then invite the candidates to react. At the very least he could have framed the question like Perky Katie Colon: "Some people claim that the gap between between rich and poor is growing and more people are dropping into poverty," rather than stating it as an absolute fact. Indeed, this is exactly the kind of crap the Bernard Goldberg cites in his book Bias -- that the gap grows and poverty increases the moment a Republican is sworn into as president, and the povery ill is cured the second a democrate is innaugerated.
