Kerry Wants To Appear On 'O'Reilly Factor'
NewsMax ^ | October 14, 2004 | Carl Limbacher

Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry thinks Fox's Bill O'Reilly is the cat's meow, and the host hopes that Kerry's admiration will translate into a pre-election appearance on the top rated O'Reilly Factor.

"I like Bill O'Reilly," the Democratic presidential candidate told TV Guide. "I think he does a terrific job. I think he's got a very good show."

He told the Associated Press that he'd "love to" appear on "The O'Reilly Factor" and would ask his schedulers about it.

For his part, O'Reilly told AP he'd been trying for about two months to book Kerry while Kerry said he was unaware of any invitation.

O'Reilly told the AP he sensed some internal debate within the Kerry campaign about whether a Kerry appearance on the Factor would be a good idea.

It would be a trip into hostile territory, at least as far as the audience is concerned, the AP wrote.

According to a survey conducted this spring by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 72 percent of "The O'Reilly Factor" viewers describe themselves as conservative, and 4 percent said they were liberal.

"This would be a huge event for John Kerry, huge," O'Reilly told the wire service. "What other media forum would attract as much attention from him? Is there one?"

"I think Kerry's an honest guy," O'Reilly added. "You ask him a question and he tells you what he thinks. He's not a weasel. I just hope he's calling the shots in his campaign."

Kerry told TV Guide that Fox News Channel has been fair to him.

"I think during (the Swift Boat controversy) everybody got a little carried away," he said. "I can take my lumps. You just go out and keep on fighting and let the chips fall where they may."

Now Bill O'Reilly has definitely lost my respect, especially if he butters up to Kerry

I did a search and the article was not posted. Why was it excerpted? Newsmax is not on the list of excerption, unless they have an article from AP

He wants to put it to the global test.

The old Bill would have been tough and straight forward...this new Bill will just kiss Kerry's a** to the joy of whoever is still watching him. This new left curve that FOX has begun throwing is so strange since it was their 'fair and balanced' reporting that made them #1. I've e-mailed their headquarters to let them know we've noticed!!!

I guess O'Reilly's scandal was the deal-maker. The charges made Bill O'Goods look like a Democrat, perhaps one to rival Bill Clinton.

Probably near-simultaneous posting; or, the prior
article wasn't indexed yet. It happens.

> Why was it excerpted?

Beats me.

Kerry must be desperate if he'll consider talking to
the post-scandal BoR, where he wouldn't talk to the
pre-scandal BoR.

O'Reilly has some good ideas but he will always be plagued by his lack of "news background" which some of the other nightly pontificators share.

He is primarily a tactical player in the world of news, challenging and poking for reaction.

It has worked with his audience however, and while he continues to disappoint me with his program and "what he could have been", perhaps he really "Only Looking Out For Himself".

He can have Kerry on as he did Bush, but I'll be viewing elsewhere. I have seen enough of Kerry - too much actually.
