Dr Pepper Adds New Flavor

Regular, Diet Cherry Vanilla Soda Available In Texas, Neighboring States

DALLAS -- Dr Pepper is adding a new cherry vanilla flavor, the second recent addition to the venerable Texas soda maker's lineup.

Thanks for taking our survey.Taste Dr. Pepper's New Flavor? Will you taste Dr. Pepper's new cherry-vanilla flavor?Yes NoI don't know.

The company said it will produce regular and diet versions of Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper for Texas and nearby states, then take the diet version nationwide in January.

Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages planned to enlist 270 carhops and Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe imitators to unveil the new flavor at its Plano headquarters and other sites around the Dallas area.

The company is a subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes PLC. Its brands also include 7UP and A&W Root Beer.

The Dr Pepper brand was unchanged for decades, other than diet and caffeine-free versions, until recently, when Cadbury Schweppes brought out Dr Pepper Red Fusion, a fruity flavor designed to appeal to young consumers.

Soda sales have been sluggish in recent years, as consumers shift to bottled water and other drinks. Soda makers have responded by introducing new flavors and colors, such as Mountain Dew Code Red from PepsiCo and Vanilla Coke by the Coca-Cola Co. Copyright 2004 by The Associated Press. One of my co-workers brought back some "Dublin Dr. Pepper" from Texas recently.
It's really good and tastes different - less heavy - than regular Dr. Pepper.

Diet Dr Pepper was the only thing Bill Clinton and I had in common. I'm not proud of that, mind.

Anyone with half a working tastebud can detect a slight undercurrent of vanilla in Dr. Pepper now.

Dr. Pepper had a major change around 1970. Before that it had a much stronger taste. I think a little like licorice.

It began to sell much better after the change although I am not sure I didn't like the original better.

Another one for Diet Dr. Pepper. I did NOT know that Bubba liked it. What a shame. I might try the new one but it seems like a bit much.

If it is anything like Bluebell's cherry vanilla ice cream, it is going to be excellent. How about a float made with Bluebell cherry vanilla and cherry vanilla DP?

They were going to branch out into room deodorizers, but ultimately learned that "Dr. Pepper Spray" didn't test market very well.

Yea!! Another cheerwine lover. :)
I grew up in Lexington, North Carolina- Bar b que capitol of the world and there is nothing better than a chopped pork bbq sandwich and an icy cold cheerwine served in a white Styrofoam cup packed solid with ice pellets and the elixir of the south (though sweet tea is the Southern Wine).

I was so bummed out when I moved to Kentucky and found out they have NO IDEA what cheerwine is. Now I have to import it from NC.
*big smile* it is my favorite drink, along with the sweet tea.

I think you can also go to their website and order it.

They teased us with Cheerwine for a while in North Florida, then dropped it. I don't drink that much soda, so I wasn't able to support it on my own. There was zero promotion.

It's the only soda that, if you're drinking it, will get other people to come up to you and say, "isn't that stuff the best?"

It doesn't taste diet!
