Bush's dodge and duck (Tom Oliphant Earns His Kerry Kneepads)

Bush's dodge and duck

By Thomas Oliphant, Globe Columnist  |  October 14, 2004

Bush had appeared to object to Kerry's citation of studies by two news organizations that questioned the accuracy of many of the president's statements on the issue.

He said he wasn't sure whether citing news organizations was an effective way to make a point, but then he stopped and said, "Oh, never mind." After a bit too much silence he then renewed his relentless attacks on Kerry's allegedly profligate liberalism -- Bush's only consistent theme of his last evening of truly mass exposure before the election.

In effect, he said "never mind" a lot last night. Bush showed up, but in a jarring turnabout from his loud, hostile, and acerbic performance at the second debate with Kerry in St. Louis last Friday, he was not playing vigorously or with effect even in a losing cause.

This was, by contrast, John Kerry's third opportunity to increase his standing with the American people, and he once again took full advantage of it. Challengers who have a chance to talk unfiltered and unchallenged before a mass audience about the future, who can joke about their wealth as well as make a clear and specific commitment to raising the minimum wage by 40 percent, are on the way to being called incumbents.

Tom Oliphant can hardly wait to write about John F*ckin's inauguration. He certainly sees something in the French Poodle those of us on here don't.

The Boston Globe's pundit lineup, with the notable exception of Jeff Jacoby, is 100% octane Democrat and liberal. So don't be surprised at what you hear them say. They're in love with the Boy From Beantown.

Bow tie daddy dontcha blow your top
Everything's under control
Bow tie daddy dontcha blow your top
'Cause you think you?re gettin? too old
Don't try to do no thinkin'
Just go on with your drinkin'
Just have your fun, you old son of a gun
Then drive home in your Lincoln

Oliphant has been sniffing the Ketchup Gigolo's panties for 20 years in Massachusetts. It's time for Tommy to come up for air.

Obviously he didn't even watch the debate... Kerry has been portrayed as the complaint candidate... typical liberal elite windbag. Everything is wrong and I will fix it all. which usually turns into.. all talk and no action... The best exchange of the night, though rarely talked about was the division of America exchange... clearly George W. Bush saw 9/11 as a great tragedy from which he learned lessons and made decisions to protect and keep this country safe. John Kerry sees 9/11 as the reason that the country is divided.. I don't beleive you should be allowed to lead this country if you did not learn any lessons that 3000 American Citizens died in a single day to teach you. I think smart America realizes now that all talk and no action gets you 9/11.

While serving on jury duty, we were shown a film starring E.G. Marshall on the jury selection process. When one lawyer dismissed a juror, his associate asked why. The lawyer responded, "I don't trust people who wear bow ties!"

I think of that film every time I see Tom Oliphant!

Don't you understand, it is the ACTUAL frenchness and the poodleness of it all that thrills Girly Girl Oliphant.

On a more serious note, Jacoby the only conservative at the Globe, mentions the fact that no one in the debate ever said or says: does the gov. have to be involved in everything from firehouses to flu shots to you local school etc...Kerry's job is to say I'll do it all for you, Bush should once in a while say the gov, cannot and won't do it all for crying out loud.

The other thing that got me was the minimum wage business: when are conservatives finally going to bash this one with the Econ 101 answer: it is a job LOSER and it hurts the poor (who loose a job or cant find one because of it).

Suggested line for John Kerry next time a "gay issue" comes up:

"You know, whenever anyone asks me about gay issues, I think of my friends in the MainStreamMedia . . . Nature, or choice? Ask someone who's there, my friends! For instance, ask Tom Oliphant if he was born a lesbian or if he chose to become a lesbian . . . "

Howie Carr pegged this nitwit and his ilk at the Boston Globbb long time ago . . . "the bow-tied bum-kissers of Morrisey Blvd."

LOL! I was about to post that as a comment. (I also don't trust 70 year old men that wear earrings)

Running up to the 2000 election, El Globo put Jeff Jacoby on ice for writing a Fourth of July column based on the public domain story of what the Founding Fathers put on the line when they made the choice for independence. What wasn't reported was that Jacoby was suspended until after the election at the behest of Algore. The Globe is also a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Times where Massachusetts SJC Justice Margaret "Gay Marriage" Marshall's husband is a columnist.
