Transcript of Kerry's Weird Response on Gay Marriage [Not Just the Cheney Daughter Thing]

Posted on 10/13/2004 7:58:53 PM PDT by Diago

SCHIEFFER: Senator Kerry?

KERRY: We're all God's children, Bob. And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as.

I think if you talk to anybody, it's not choice. I've met people who struggled with this for years, people who were in a marriage because they were living a sort of convention, and they struggled with it.

And I've met wives who are supportive of their husbands or vice versa when they finally sort of broke out and allowed themselves to live who they were, who they felt God had made them.

KERRY: I think we have to respect that.

The president and I share the belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. I believe that. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman.

But I also believe that because we are the United States of America, we're a country with a great, unbelievable Constitution, with rights that we afford people, that you can't discriminate in the workplace. You can't discriminate in the rights that you afford people.

You can't disallow someone the right to visit their partner in a hospital. You have to allow people to transfer property, which is why I'm for partnership rights and so forth.

Now, with respect to DOMA and the marriage laws, the states have always been able to manage those laws. And they're proving today, every state, that they can manage them adequately.

This part of his answer would have made my Democratic Grama vomit:

"And I've met wives who are supportive of their husbands or vice versa when they finally sort of broke out and allowed themselves to live who they were, who they felt God had made them."

I guess that line gets him Mrs. McGreevey's vote.

The McGreevey's?

I thought I read where poor Mrs. McGreevey was actually repulsed. He is probably talking about some sitcom charecter he met in Hollywood. Did something like this happen on Will and Grace?

Fortunately, these folk he knows and is citing are infallible, couldn't possibly be confused sexually, and would never lie.

Just like Chirac and Schroeder, sKerry's best friends.

" ... she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as. "

While I don't believe that anyone is born that way ... his answer is wierd.

She IS a lesbian, NOT "was". It is also a choice.

It is bad to talk about her but to say you know what she thinks and would tell you ...

Kerry MUST apologize.

I had to think about those New Jersey people for a minute. I didn't recognize their name. Well, it's a progressive Democrat area. Why should a women care if her husband has a boyfriend? I mean, Kerry can explain it to us, and explain why being an altar boy (or was it alter) helps him accept partial birth abortion. It's all relative.

He thanked Kerry for bringing up McCain's name because McCain supports him.

And I'VE met wives who are supportive of their husbands when they find out their husbands are child molesters. It doesn't make the wife's choice a good one and doesn't mean the husband isn't a sick pervert.

Having Kerry state anything about marriage is hilarious!

He didn't even make a reference to TerRAYza when asked about the strong women in his life..... he defaulted to mommy.

Did you catch the camera shot of Laura at the end of the debate versus the scowl on TerRAYza?
Priceless.

When he said, "We are all God's children, Bob," he sounded so condescending, it made me scowl!

What is the purpose of Kerry and Edwards bringing Mary Cheney into this discussion?

Kerry and Edwards have once and for all shown their LOW CLASS willingness to DO OR SAY ANYTHING to win. They were
afraid we all didn't know about Dick Cheney's lesbian
daughter and they were dern sure we were going to. We know,
SENATOR, because Dick Cheney himself had told us long ago, like a man. (I felt greasy as Liveshot was talking out of
turn just as Edwards did in the VP debates about Cheney's daughter. He made me feel like I needed a shower, because of his slick sleaziness!) Don't these "gay" people know those two are doing a locker room joke at their expense?

You can't disallow someone the right to visit their partner in a hospital. You have to allow people to transfer property, which is why I'm for partnership rights and so forth.

Any of these things can be easily handled by having a lawyer draw up the papers so you can sign them.

I agree. We MUST e-mail every news outlet we can and INSIST that Kerry apolotize publically and on national television to Cheney's daughter. This is the worst, most disgraceful political stunt I have ever seen.
