I have no idea. I quit watching him over a year ago.

Yes, that very statement on the first pages of the complaint should be manna from heaven for the Defense.

If this case goes forward, the depositions should be interesting to say the least.

And I'd bet O'Reilly's attorneys are going to ask--no, beg--for a gag order and that the depositions be sealed.

That screams extortion - and IIRC, extortion is illegal even if the action you threaten (suing) is otherwise perfectly legal.

If these claims are completely meritless, you may be correct. However, if there is even a shade of truth to them (including if she was a willing participant) then there would be a chance that a jury would find O'Reilly liable. As such her attorney, as a duty to explore settling all claims at any point in the litigation process. That is not extortion.

I personally think they should have taken Greta off a long time ago...

One may suspect that she's also threatened a sexual harrassment suit against someone at FOX NEWS -- if not for the fact that no one could possibly think about sex while talking to her.

If he said all of these things and she recorded them O'Reilly is in deep trouble.

Female Fox coworker details lewd behavior of cable TV star

OCTOBER 13--Hours after Bill O'Reilly accused her of a multimillion dollar shakedown attempt, a female Fox News producer fired back at the TV star today, filing a lawsuit claiming that he subjected her to repeated instances of sexual harassment and spoke often, and explicitly, to her about phone sex, vibrators, threesomes, masturbation, the loss of his virginity, and sexual fantasies. Below you'll find a copy of Andrea Mackris's complaint, an incredible page-turner that quotes O'Reilly, 55, on all sorts of lewd matters. Based on the extensive quotations cited in the complaint, it appears a safe bet that Mackris, 33, recorded some of O'Reilly's more steamy soliloquies. For example, we direct you to his Caribbean shower fantasies. While we suggest reading the entire document, TSG will point you to interesting sections on a Thailand sex show, Al Franken, and the climax of one August 2004 phone conversation. (22 pages)

Well, my husband has been saying that O'Reilly has to always talk about sex and he was right but I had no idea!!

The only thing you have an idea of are the words of a trial lawyer that just so happens to be a big democratic supporter that just so happens to have had a previous client that lied to him and put fabricated evidence on the corporate network to influence the case.

This whole thing begs the question: Since these men (and women) are aware of the millions of people they reach, & they have lots of money, & meet famous people all the time, & by outward appearances they are admired and envied by so many people - male & female -, and are acquainted with others in the industry who have suffered similar problems, if true (and BoR wouldn't be the first one), this is a result of such monumental stupidity as to not be believed. If those conversations he supposedly had with the lady are true, what was BoR THINKING (aside from the obvious) when/if these things transpired??? Think about it. Why would a man with that much to lose be willing to risk it for some phone sex, especially when he KNOWS what could happen to his career? Good grief, his poor wife. But I'll bet she won't be poor for long. What a mess.

Oh, there is no doubt she taped him on the phone...illegally.

Not necessarily.

In many states (I don't know about New York), it's perfectly legal to tape phone calls as long as one of the participants agrees to it while the other participant doesn't have to know.

Hey, I actually think Greta does a decent job. Granted, Lis Wiel is a different animal, but I shan't delve into such things.

I have no love for Bill O'Reilly, but this story and her charges stink to high heavens. Like Anita Hill, who followed Justice Thomas from work place to work place and then claimed sexual harrassment during all that time, this Mackris woman also appears to be an individual who leaves jobs and then goes back to them because she enjoys being harassed. She claims from 2002 until she left in January 2004, that she was repeatedly harassed and abused. Yet she never reported it. However, she must have enjoyed that so-called abuse, because in less than 7 months, she begged to be able to get her old job back with Fox & O'Reilly, and was rehired in July of 2004. One would think that if the work environment was so bad and filled with repeated harassment as she claims, an individual wouldn't want to go back to it. It will be interesting to see if she actually has any tape recordings of O'Reilly making his sexually-laced comments to her. We know Anita Hill didn't have any tapes, or even any witnesses, yet the Left attempted to take down Claarence Thomas.

You are missing the big picture.

11. At all times mentioned herein, Defendant Bill O'Reilly was and is the host and "star" of "The O'Reilly Factor". The "O'Reilly Factor" is broadcast on cable television ....(no viewable)... Westwood One and Bill O'Reilly utilize this forum to preach the principles of the so-called "compasionate conservatism" espoused by George W. Bush and the Republican Party. The Defendants also use this forum to preach their belief in family values and to emoan the moral decline of politicians and others in positions of power.

That's right. New York is a 'one party' state on telephone taping. One party to the conversation must consent to recording. So she could tape if she wanted to.

I disagree ;)

He is so high on himself, I'm surprised that he would consider anything other than autostimulation, if you know what I mean.
