OTTAWA(CP)--The fatal fire aboard HMCS Chicoutimi is another example of government incompetence, Conservative Leader Stephen Harper said Wednesday.
On his way into his party's weekly caucus meeting, he said the government is on a long-term path to the "destruction of our military."
During the election campaign, he said, the Liberals scoffed at his calls for more defense spending.
"The government said I was being a warmonger, they said that our priority was exaggerated. Our priority is not exaggerated."
Harper said the government needs to make major investments in the military.
"It is essential that they take defense seriously," he said. We are seeing the consequences of 30 years of neglect and the gradual loss of our military capacity. This is just another example."
The fire aboard the submarine, which killed Lieut. Chris Saunders, is under investigation by a navy board of inquiry.
The three sister subs of Chicoutimi have been confined to port while the investigation goes on.
Other conservatives have suggested that there is a common fault in all four subs that must be pinpointed and fixed.
Same over in the USA
When liberals do that, it's like a dog pi$$ing on a fire hydrant. It's what they do.
So the Canadian Military is on the path to destruction under the Liberals.
When will All the Bases Belong to the Conservatives?
Move Zig for Great Justice!
So sad, so true.
What's really pathetic is that this fine Canadian sailor died defending the liberal a-holes that are responsible for his death, and that of alot of others aboard those damn Seakings.
Rest in peace, Warriors.
Not only that the government will send the family a bill to remove the soldier from all Canadian government computers...nice huh..Happened with both my grand fathers who served time in DNDCA...
My suggestion is that 1) Pray for a Bush win.
2) All American freepers/ republicans pressure the US government like hell and demand the end for your tax dollars to stop funding defence of countries in particular those in the G8 because the notion of if you don't protect your own borders we will do it for you will encourage countries to lay back and not do anything about their own military.
