But why are these homes built in a floodplain?
Freedom to live where one wants, I guess. It's definitely not a life style, in ordinary times, for the faint of heart, with the snakes & gators.
Some people just like the aspect of the privacy, water and woods. It's sure not for everyone.
I live on the Lake Tsala (pronounced sala) chain of lakes. The lake system was really low, as we were draught stricken for seven years. For the last three we have been getting good rains, and now the hurricanes have dumped even more water. Lakes are filled to the top.
Nature giveth ... Nature taketh away. ;)
