more likely it is a general discharge. The challenge will be to explain it. If Kerry follows past actions, he has probably told almost none of his top staff. My guess is possibly even Teresa doesn't know. You can bet Teddy K doesn, and he is going to be the chief strategist on how to deal with this...it would also explain why Clinton, who right after his heart surgery was going to be back on the trail in days, now can't get back on the campaign trail for Kerry before the election. No one wants to help organize deck chairs on the Titanic...

I'm guessing they gave him the general discharge for either missing some meetings and exercises, or for talking to the North Vietnamese during the war.
The discharge from Carter in 78 was an honorable one, unless it was forged. :)
