About a week ago, some dude snuck past whatever security they have and went to the crater rim with a videocam.
They showed some of the footage, it really was spectacular, you could see the image shake and hear the rumbles when the earthquakes occurred, about twice a minute, and see these huge rockfalls and slides.
The forest service people were not amused.

Actually, I do get ash in my house, because I have a pellet stove.

Fantastic video on the tube just now, a chopper with a 5 gallon bucket suspended about 150 feet below, dragging the bucket against the new lava "FIN", it's just a fin shaped pile of rock and lava over 250 feet tall now. Steam is shooting out of it, you really had to see it to sense the scale of it all!
