It can be "deadly out there". But I refuse to cower. I'll just take precautions and be cautious.
Me too. I will not cower. It is bad enough my hands get washed as soon as I arrive back from a public outing or store.
My hands need some Aveeno right now because this time of year they start getting sensitive to the colder weather and the hand washing combined.

Thanks Velveeta. The only other item to show up in Google News on that subject in recent days is this news release, shown below. Im not wise to the ways of the Middle East, so I dont know whether this is unusual or not, although it does say Special News Update. A subtle hint of an announcement to come, perhaps?
Oh Goody, I love stories like this......
Time to put on the tin foil hat, the one made with a whole roll of Reynolds.
Let's go back to the first gulf war. I saw a special on the discovery channel, a couple years ago, that claimed the U.S. had installed microchips into computer printers that allowed our cruise missles to find these printers when a satellite signal was sent out to activate the chip. Of course, the show goes on to tell us, these printers were sold to Iraqi government agencies.
Tin Foil hat adjusted
My Tin Foil Theory.........Japan makes T.V.'s (Toshiba) for U.S. markets and contracts a Chinese company to provide chips for their televisions. The PLA smelling a prime opportunity sends Toshiba microchips that will send a signal that Chinese satellites can pick up, enabling Chinese missiles to be guided in on a pre-identified target.
(Some unsuspecting airmen, soldier or sailor that has one of these in his on-base housing, PLA notes with great joy that they have a positive target to which to guide their missile, thereby insuring a more accurate strike)
Leave the rest up to your own Tin Foil imagination.
What is the down side to this theory? If it's true, we have bought a LOT of chinese electronics over the last few years here in the U.S.
Bon Appetite!
of course there are only about 1000 holes in this theory, but hey, if there weren't we'd be trading our tin foil hats in for a nice 1950's bomb shelter.
Well I must tell you I only made it through 3 minutes of that piece of tripe. The point in their opening monolog being that there was no evidence of Terrorism involved in 9-11 and asking if the world had been fooled by a 'grand conspiracy'. I personally think al Jazeera is nothing but propogandist garbage, and I already know who the enemy is...
ISLAMOFACISM!
Hah, LOL. I always tried to defy my mother because it wasn't comfortable to "hover". For years I believed she could see *through* walls because she always knew when I had stopped hovering. LOL. It was quite a few years later when I realized that she just looked under the stall and if my feet were a dangling...I wasn't hovering.
Thanks for the flashback. :-)
LOL at the hazmat suit.
This is how we'll recognize fellow TMers out there.
Donna - As you know, sometimes binoc's just don't get the job done. You might find the following link of interest.

It's a company that sells an inexpensive, handheld wireless surveillance system. They come in handy from time to time.
Cheers!

It all fits, I suppose.
I was wondering if Mayo Clinic wasn't able to announce the donation until after his death. Either that or the final payment was made upon his death.
Will be interesting to see what develops. Thanks for bringing it up here.
You know it really surprised me that the powers that be didn't take the TV with them to "study".
Considering I live near Seattle and often fly to Chicago for the company I'm with (and have many friends in the greater Chicago area) this story certainly does not give me a 'warm fuzzy' feeling. Everyone should be constantly vigilent.
To relate another story, about 6 weeks ago we had the local representative from the Joint Task Force on Terrorism visit our location. We are an industrial gases manufacturer in the Tacoma, WA. area. Apparently that morning (about 5 am)a local police officer approached a man (no description was given to us by the JTF or the Tacoma PD) whom was filming our trucks entering and leaving the facility, from an overpass on I-5. These are 18 wheelers with Liquefied Argon, Oxygen and Nitrogen trailers.
Though the officer had no grounds to apprehend the individual he did file a report and it must have caught someones attention. Less than 3 hours later the local representative of the JTF on Terrorism, a Pierce county sheriff's deputy and a Tacoma city police detective, came to our location to discuss site security, among other topics, with us.
To compound the matter, and set our nerves a little on edge, the day before an unmarked white panel van was seen outside the fenceline with two people photographing the site. One of our employees approached the van and it left 'in a hurry' according to the employee. The next day (same day as the filming incident above) a car was outside the fence line doing the same thing, it also left hurriedly when it was approached. Unfortunatley we do not have any type of ID as to the nationality of any of the idividuals involved in the incident.
One point has to be remembered, we are considered a chemical manufacturer and we do have a lot of eco terrorist freaks in this area. It could as easily have been Green Peace or Earth Liberation Front goons looking for an easy target, as it could have been islamofacists.
Since then we have had no further incidents
This is what they see there via al Jazeera, day in and day out.
Just WOW. Be careful out there.

Suspicious Package At Baltimore Subway Station
Baltimore, MD (WJZ) The bomb squad was called in to blow up a suspicious package at a Baltimore City subway station today.
The object that made people nervous was a bag that was sitting on a bench at the Mondawmin subway station.
Initially, the bomb squad thought there might be an explosive inside - so they blew it up.
As it turned out, there were no explosives inside.
The incident was serious enough to stop Metro service through the Mondawmin station for three hours - leaving thousands of passengers either waiting or stranded.

Grinning...thanks, subsea06.
I have one ccd wireless device but it is black and white and the resolution is lacking for detail. It is good for overall viewing, but not close-up detail more than a few feet away.
