I am just not looking forward to election night at all. Can't we fastforward to January?

I still suffer from a residual and lingering horror courtesy of election 2000. The night ended with the bitchery as senator and a 50/50 chance that algore might grab the presidency.

I'm afraid I'm still recovering...

Thanks, Cindy, for posting the link to that thread.

Will the MSM ever mention these Russia/Syria WMD stories that are making the rounds tonight? Afterall, there is nothing in it for them...

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Oct. 27 - Looters stormed the weapons site at Al Qaqaa in the days after American troops swept through the area in early April 2003 on their way to Baghdad, gutting office buildings, carrying off munitions and even dismantling heavy machinery, three Iraqi witnesses and a regional security chief said Wednesday.

Good night!

I took a news break for the past few days and kept the tv, radio and computer turned off. My eyes are bleary from reading so much in an attempt to catch up. And I didn't even venture much beyond Free Republic tonight.

Have been prayerfully pondering for months . . .

1) Assume the puppet masters have had SOME hand in putting up both SKERRY and W--though I still believe W to be a good, authentically Christian man etc.

2) They seemed to put up Nixon the hyper anti-Communist to open China.

3) How does it serve their globalist interests to put up W at this time and such a super awful candidate SKERRY at such a critical time.

4) Have begun to wonder if the following could be their strategy: Are they going to contend . . . that . . .

AMIDST MASSIVE TERROR ATTACKS AND NATURAL DISASTERS THAT 'we've tried the 'Rambo' approach, and it didn't work--see all this chaos, war and suffering--NOW, THE ONLY alternative is the global government and all the worst 'comforting' tyranny we can enslave you with.'

I wonder . . . plausible, it seems to me.

I think I'd rather fast forward to THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB or the RESURRECTION of the saints or THE RAPTURE --whichever occurs first! WHEEE!

 Iraqi Christians Pray for Hostage

Christian worshipers in Iraq prayed on Sunday for the release of kidnaped humanitarian aid worker Margaret Hassan.

Parish priest al-Khori Rufaeel, deputy head of the Syrian Catholic Community, condemned her abduction, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported, saying it did not serve the country's interests.

Preaching in Baghdad, he emphasized Hassan's long track record of humanitarian work for Iraq and its people.

Hassan works for CARE, a non-governmental charitable organization that has assisted in  Iraq for the last 14 years.

Reuters news agency reported, the BBC said,  that insurgent commanders in Falluja said they were not holding Hassan.

One of five guerrilla commanders, quoted by Reuters said, "The resistance did not kidnap her because this would have left a bad impression of the resistance in the world."

Another commander told Reuters, "This woman works for an humanitarian organization - she should not have been kidnaped."

They said there was no evidence that Jordanian militant Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad group - which abducted and beheaded British hostage Kenneth Bigley - was involved.

In a video released on Friday, Hassan - who has dual Iraqi and British citizenship  was seen tearfully pleading British Prime Minister Tony Blair to withdraw troops to save her life.

However, Arabic News reported that interim Iraqi prime minister Eyad Allawi will not give in to the kidnapers demands.

In an interview with Fox News broadcast Sunday, Allawi said  "we should stay very tough and not to give up the issue of bringing terrorists before the judiciary."

Allawi expressed hope, Arabic News reported, that Hassan would be released.

In the first British official reaction to the appeal, Arabic News reported that British foreign office secretary Jack Straw said that the video taped appeal is shocking. He called for Hassan's release and asked for all Iraqis to join a call to see Hassan immediately released.

The BBC also reported that Hassan's husband Tahseen Ali Hassan in a televised appeal pleased with captors to release his wife.

"I beg you, in the name of Islam and Arabism," he said, "while we are in the holiest Islamic month, to return my wife."

Tahseen Ali Hassan reiterated his wife's Iraqi links, the BBC reported.

"Margaret is an Iraqi national and has been living in Iraq for more than 30 years. She considers Iraq her homeland. She loves Iraq and its people," he said. "She considers my family to be her own. This is why she devoted herself and her life to help her people in Iraq."

A statement on the CARE web site read, "In light of the latest video of Mrs. Hassan, CARE continues to be deeply concerned for her welfare. CARE joins with the many Iraqi people who Mrs. Hassan has helped over her decades of charitable work in Iraq in calling for her immediate release. Mrs. Hassan is an Iraqi citizen and holds the people of Iraq in her heart. Her tremendous dedication to the Iraqi people has been demonstrated through overwhelming public support in Iraq for her release. We call on the people who are holding Mrs. Hassan to be aware that she is an Iraqi and to release her to her family, her husband Tahsine and the Iraqi people who love her."

Yes. Although EOM claimed he was Amer-El-Maati (Sp?), I remember reading analysis somewhere or another that he was more likely to be Gadahn. The basis for this was that in EOM's original post on 9/10/01 on the MSNBC board, EOM used lyrics from a song by an obscure Australian rock band called "The Skyhooks". Adam Gadahn was apparently a big fan of heavy rock and metal music and used to sit in his room for hours when he lived at home listening to that sort of thing (sounds like a typical teenager to me).

Ongoing Chatter about New Terror Tape
Source: TT Analysis | 9:07:58 PM EST

There currently are many threads ongoing on many of Al-Qaeda's websites. Militants everywhere are talking about the release of the new Terror Warning Tape here in America. While most of the responses to this item of news is simply "ALLAH IS THE GREATEST" over and over again, one struck us as quite interesting.

MACHINE TRANSLATION

If Al-Mulla Amr promises, he will materialize after 3 years as announced through a meeting with him by the Pashtun language at the fall of the Islamic emirate Bafghanstnan where the British Broadcasting Corporation transmitted them and many of the people did not turn to it he has believed by the letter that Allah kept that the destruction of America became soon, and said the Mollah Muhammad Omar that Allah who translated his statements into the English kept that the current situation in Afghanistan is related to a greatest case she is the destruction of America . And he clarified that this project scores a progress and its execution takes place but the task is terrific, passes the will of the human being and their realization as ended its speech with an eloquent expression so that my speech this remains a stuck in your minds .

We will keep you updated as more militants discuss the news of this terror tape.

"German court rejects terrorist damages claim"

27 October 2004

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "HANOVER - A German court rejected Wednesday a claim against a package holiday company for damages after a customer was seriously hurt in an 11 April 2002 bombing by al-Qaeda in Tunisia.

Lawyers for Adrian Esper, 6, who lost 40 percent of his skin, had contended that 1-2-Fly, a subsidiary of the world's biggest tours company, TUI of Germany, should have warned the family before they left Germany that terrorists might strike.

But presiding judge Britta Knuellig-Dingeldey told a state court in the German city of Hanover that, "the heightened risk after 2001 of being hurt as a tourist by a terrorist attack", was common knowledge."

Saudi Arabia

October 27, 2004

This Travel Warning is being updated to inform U.S. citizens that our Mission in Saudi Arabia remains an unaccompanied post as a result of continued security concerns. Non-emergency employees and all dependents of the U.S. Embassy Riyadh and Consulates General Jeddah and Dhahran were ordered to leave the country on April 15, 2004 and will not be permitted to return until further notice. Due to targeted attacks against American citizens, resulting in deaths, injuries and kidnapping, and the continuing serious threat to their safety while in Saudi Arabia, the Department of State continues to warn U.S. citizens to defer travel to Saudi Arabia. Private Americans currently in Saudi Arabia are strongly urged to depart. This Travel Warning supersedes that of August 12, 2004.

U.S. citizens are reminded of the potential for further terrorist actions against U.S. citizens abroad, including in the Persian Gulf region. U.S. citizens who travel to, or remain in, Saudi Arabia despite this Travel Warning should register at the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh or at the Consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran, and enroll in the warden system (emergency alert network) to obtain updated information on travel and security in Saudi Arabia. Warden messages can be found on the U.S. Embassy Riyadh website: http://usembassy.state.gov/riyadh/.

Although counter-terrorism efforts have succeeded in diminishing terrorist capabilities in Saudi Arabia, terrorist groups continue to target housing compounds, hotels methods of transportation, and commercial establishments where Westerners can be found. Saudi Government facilities are also targets. In addition to car bombs and armed assaults involving multiple gunmen against such facilities, terrorists have also used ambush attacks to kidnap and/or assassinate individual Westerners.

American citizens who choose to visit or remain in Saudi Arabia are strongly urged to avoid staying in hotels or housing compounds that do not apply stringent security measures including, but not limited to, the presence of an armed guard force, inspection of all vehicles, and a hardened security perimeter to prevent unauthorized vehicles from approaching the facility. American citizens are further advised to exercise caution when visiting commercial establishments frequented by Westerners. American citizens are also advised to exercise caution while driving, entering or exiting vehicles.

From time to time, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Saudi Arabia may restrict the travel of official Americans or suspend public services for security reasons. In those instances, the Embassy and Consulates will keep the local American citizen community apprised through the Warden System and make every effort to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens.

As the Department continues to develop information on any potential security threats to U.S. citizens overseas, it shares credible threat information through its Consular Information Program documents, available on the Internet at http://travel.state.gov. U.S. travelers can also get up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 in the U.S. or Canada or on a regular toll line at 1-317-472-2328.

U.S. citizens should also consult the Department of State's Consular Information Sheet for Saudi Arabia, the Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, and Middle East and North Africa Public Announcement at http://travel.state.gov.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/russia_announce.html

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Office of the Spokesman

This information is current as of today, Thu Oct 28 2004 01:52:28 GMT-0700.

Russia

October 27, 2004

This Public Announcement is being issued to alert American citizens traveling or living in Russia that recent incidents of terrorism within Russia have highlighted the continued risk of terrorist activity. There remains a heightened potential for terrorist actions, including attacks against civilians. This situation is likely to continue for some time. Since August 24, 2004, Russia has experienced several terrorist incidents. This supercedes the Public Announcement of September 3, 2004 and expires on March 31, 2005.

On August 24, two airplanes departing from Moscow to cities in southern Russia crashed within minutes of each other. The cause of the crashes, which claimed 90 lives, has been identified as explosives onboard the planes. On the same night, an explosion at a bus stop in Moscow injured several people. On August 31, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb outside a Moscow metro station killing ten people and injuring several dozen more.

On September 1, a group of terrorists believed to have links with Chechen separatists, seized a school in the Russian republic of North Ossetia, holding hostage over 1,200 students, parents and teachers. Over 300 hostages died.

Acts of terrorism, including bombings and hostage taking, have occurred in large Russian cities over the last several years. Bombings have occurred at Russian government buildings, hotels, tourist sites, markets, entertainment venues, schools, residential complexes, and on public transportation.

The Department of State notes that Chechen separatist elements have issued a new statement threatening attacks against Russian and U.S. interests. In addition, there is a general risk of an American citizen being an unintended victim of an indiscriminate terrorist attack. American citizens traveling or living in Russia are advised that the potential for terrorist actions, including actions against civilians, is high and likely will remain so for some time. American citizens in Russia should be aware of their personal surroundings and follow good security practices. Americans are urged to remain vigilant and exercise good judgment and discretion when using any form of public transportation. Americans should consider alternate forms of ground travel other than the metro if possible, especially during peak hours of usage. When going via train, plane or bus, travelers may wish to provide a friend or coworker a copy of any travel schedule. Americans should avoid large crowds and public gatherings that lack enhanced security measures. Travelers should also exercise a high degree of caution and remain alert when patronizing restaurants, casinos, nightclubs, bars, theaters, etc., especially during peak hours of business.

Due to continued civil and political unrest throughout much of the Caucasus region, the Department of State already warns U.S. citizens against travel to Chechnya and all areas that border it: North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Stavropol, Karachayevo-Cherkessiya and Kabardino-Balkariya. United States government personnel are prohibited from traveling to these areas, and American citizens residing in these areas should depart immediately as the safety of Americans and other foreigners cannot be effectively guaranteed.

American citizens living in Russia or traveling there are strongly urged to register with the embassy or nearest consulate general. Registration will allow the embassy to provide direct information on the security situation as necessary. Information on registering with the embassy can be found at the embassy web http://www.usembassy.ru or at the department of state’s consular affairs website: http://travel.state.gov/travel/abroad_registration.html.

As the Department continues to develop information on any potential security threats to U.S. citizens overseas, it shares credible threat information through its consular information program documents, available on the Internet at http://travel.state.gov. In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-317-472-2328.
