Congressman Pete Sessions'(R-TX) Streaking Stunt {from 1974} Exposed

Old school days long gone, but not forgotten: Congressman's streaking stunt exposed

DALLAS The gloves have come off in a tight election race between two Texas congressmen -- and every other article of clothing appears to be fair game as well.

Democrats are circulating old newspaper clippings of a 1974 college streaking stunt staged by hundreds of students at what was then called Southwest Texas State University.

One of the participants was an 18-year-old freshman named Pete Sessions -- who grew up to become a conservative Republican congressman.

A Sessions spokesman says the congressman's "old school days are long gone" and that he recognizes the streaking stunt was "an immature action."

But the campaign of Democrat Representative Martin Frost is holding his rival's bare body to the fire, saying he "exposed himself to children and strangers."

The two incumbents are battling each other in a new Republican-leaning district in the Dallas area. Frost, Texas' senior congressman, had his district redrawn by Republicans last year.

LOL!

Sounds like some of the guys from Tiger Inn (more or less my college's equivalent of the more redneck branches of Kappa Alpha) < g > . . . and now that I've aggravated the KAs AND the TI guys, I'll just duck and cover and await Incoming . . . :-D

No, I don't live in the district, but I was in the district on a weekend trip in early August. The fact is some Republicans do vote Democrat, and of course Republicans couldn't win much of anything without some Democrat crossover support.

They had forgotten, however, about the turnstiles at the entrance . . . which were just about the height of their, ah, tender bits.

A friend told me about a boy - the principal's son - who streaked at her Kansas City high school and ran right through a glass door, leaving him lying on the floor for all to see - bleeding, in much pain and buck nekked. His dad was not pleased.

Uh oh.

I'm sorry he got hurt, if I were his dad I would be mad at him for being so careless and stupid . . . not so much for the streaking.

Glass cuts are bad. A girl accidentally walked through a sliding glass door at my high school (not streaking - just leaving the lunchroom). She had to have hundreds of stitches in her arms, fortunately her face was only slightly cut. I have never seen so much blood! A couple of the football players wrapped her arms up in a tablecloth to try to stop the bleeding, but it was bad.

I agree with your characterization of the early 1970s streaking as non-sexual. It really was just mindless adolescent silliness, and heaven knows many high school and college kids are nothing if not mindless.

A few girls from my dorm wing tried to get me to join them in streaking - they said they'd go to a local park at night and run around (apparently, hoping they wouldn't actually be seen by anyone), but I declined. Turns out their big adventure consisted of jumping out of the car au naturelle and running around for about 3 seconds before throwing their clothes back on, in fits of giggles.

If I were in this congressional district and the worst they could come up with against a candidate was that he did this 30 years ago at age 18, I really don't think I'd care.

Yeah, right, Joe. It was so mainstream SOMEONE ACTUALLY STREAKED LIVE AND ON STAGE AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS! Please.

Running around naked in public was mainstream? Your in Ohio right? You've been suckered! We were told taking LSD and other drugs at one time, was cool and mainstream. You've been had in Ohio.

Listen Ohio, the academy awards are filled with leftist, sickos, perverts, druggies, alcoholics, pedophiles, communist, and many other assorted freaks. Just like colleges. Of course they push their twisted agendas all the time. It's in your face, to the point where people in places like Ohio are led to believe this is somehow cool, acceptable, funny, and mainstream. There was a time, years ago, when the entire family watched quality actors at the awards. It was clean and acceptable for the entire family. They've completely subverted and undermined that too. Wake up.

Time to start thinking for yourself there in Ohio. Refuse to be suckered by the deviate leftist with agendas.

BS. I was raised in the 60s and 70s in belly of the beast, Southern California. I didn't know one single kid that ran around naked in public. You people have been had.

#86 is for you too.

How does attacking Sessions for streaking help to feed one hungry child?

Every year, at the University of Michigan, there is an event known as the Naked Mile. It's held on the last day of exams and is geared (mostly) towards seniors. Turnout is usually in the high hundreds, low thousands. The Ann Arbor and U of M police handle crowd control and sealing off the appropriate streets. There is absolutely no sexual aspect to the run. The College Republicans are one of the groups involving in organizing the event (the CRs were the biggest student group on campus when I was an undergrad).

For the record, I could care less what that politico did. I am just pointing out that many people are easily led to believe somethings are cool, acceptable and mainstream just because they see others doing it. Like LSD in the 60s and 70s, it was very acceptable in many circles. Orgies were a big hit too.

Cool huh?

You sure are getting worked up over a shortlived fad from 30 years ago.

Not worked up at all. Just pointing out how people can be easily led around by the nose, into thinking some things are acceptable, just because they see others doing it.

There is a sucker born every minute.

Now, calm down.

Now that's perfectly acceptable for the young people and kids watching the game. Yep, nothing wrong with that.

Oh, your above response seemed to imply that you did attend. Any family of yours attend?

Sorry- I was unclear. I attended U of M, but I did not participate in the Naked Mile (other than watching from the sidelines.

Nobody else in my family has attended U of M.
