There was a guy alongside the road in South Barrington, tonight, with a sign urging people to listen to the debate on 780 am. A freeper, maybe? Maybe an angel. Or both 8-)
I can believe that the two televised debates are scheduled just a week before the election. Disgusting, but believable.

When (social "moderate") Lynn Martin ran for the US Senate as a Republican (in 1986?) I understand she received 34% of the vote. If Keyes does not get significantly better than that, the shame will not be on those who vote for him!

Alan Keyes was definitely the "Dominant Male" there at the debate.
I sure hope Obama's disdain for 2nd Amendment rights are brought up in one of the next debates. This issue is big downstate.

"Keys is kicking liberal butt."Hallelujah! Alan Keyes has never let me down yet!

Absolutely. My guess is that Obama will once again "agree" with Keyes on his position. I couldn't believe how many times tonight Obama said he agreed with Keyes. Considering they're calling Keyes an extremist, (one of the nicer things they're calling him) you'd think Obama would be disagreeing with him on every issue. Obama knows he's the extremist & in order to get the downstate & suburban vote, he has to sound like a moderate, if not a conservative.

How did you like the way the "moderators" arranged the born alive infanticide question (final question)?
Keyes was rushed and barely had time to make his case about Obama, then Obama got to have the last word with his alleged refutation, without any follow-up.

Amen!! Now if we can just get over 1 million FOID card owners in Illinois to get up off their asses and vote, WE will be in business! I just got something about Tom DeLay from the NRA. Sheesh, he may be a champion for the 2nd Amendment, but his shadiness is not a help. I'd prefer they put their money and efforts into getting people (even NRA members only) informed and voting.

Noticed that. Obama was barely hanging on by his fingernails by the end.

For some reason, this thread seemed a lot less stressful than a lot of the other Keyes threads I've been on. I wonder why that is. Thanks, Jim. ; )

Get a Grip!! That whole DeLay thing has been the little wonder child of "Mz. plastic surgery redux Pelosi" He is an awesome guy with a great heart, proven by DEED not sound bites. The reason they all hate him is because he's REALLY GOOD AT HIS JOB!
There is no stain on DeLay's character, but there should be a huge one on his accusers!

1990 U.S. Senate -- ILLINOIS
Paul Simon (D)............65%
Lynn Martin (RINO)....34%
You shouldn't be too harsh on the Illinois GOP, back in those days they ran more "moderate" candidates statewide, the "suburban woman, pro-choice, pro-gun control, gay friendly Republicans" who were soooooo much more "electable" than "right-wing extremist" candidates like Peter Fitzgerald.
I have to wonder why Lynn didn't get all those "moderate" "swing" votes in the suburbs. ;-)

Considering they're calling Keyes an extremist, (one of the nicer things they're calling him) you'd think Obama would be disagreeing with him on every issue. Excellent observation. Keyes came off as sure footed and reasonably. Obama seemed liked he was being overwhelmed by Alan Keyes's oratory skills.
To: Missouri
If Alan Keyes had half the good press Obama is getting, he'd be ahead now. I remember the morning after the Illinois primary. Both Obama & Jack Ryan had won. Obama & his family get the entire front page of the Sun-Times. They put a little picture of Jack Ryan alongside Obama's nice family picture. No bias there.
Then the other newspaper, The Chicago Tribune, demands that Ryan's divorce records be unsealed. No bias there. Nice if they would demand the same of Kerry's 180.
NBC (local) is covering the debate now!

The jerk, Mike, on CBS just said that nothing happened tonight that would change the poll number. That Obama's 68% would remain the same.
