Its their ball. Its their bat. Its their field. The Democrats with the help of the willing press dont just change the rules, they change the sport. Think about it. Sure changing the rules for your advantage certainly helps. (Strike five your out Sixth down and inches. He shoots a four pointer, yes, and three. )
Republicans finally learned to play and win under these rules They have learned to compete and in recent times have enjoyed success.
Just when the Republicans learned to compete with changing rules, the game itself gets changed. You see if the Democrats have good basketball players, then the game is basketball. If they have good baseball players, well then the game will be baseball.
Think Im exaggerating? Think Im stretching things a bit. Look no further then this election. Whats the game? The game is Vietnam. Why? Because the Democrats think they have a good Vietnam team.
It is amazing how seamless how subtle the game changes. From one event to another. So the Republicans show up in their bathing suits for a down hill racing competition.
(For those of you with a public school education, the use of the word game is a metaphor for issue. Metaphor means, forget It, Ill explain that in another article.)
When Bill Clinton was running for president, the game was not Vietnam or World War two. It was not even a contact sport at all. In fact it was the economy stupid Why? Because the Democrats had a light weight in Bill Clinton. Luckily for him the game was changed. I mean think about it, in the left corner weighing in at 90 pounds, wearing the blue dress (sorry) Bill Clinton. And in the right corner weighing in at 235 ponds Bob Dole. o contest.
When Clinton ran for president, military experience meant nothing. In fact it meant less then nothing, it was a negative. Abdicating your duties for service was honorable and something to be admired. Loathing the military was in vogue.
Fast forward to today. How does it happen? It could only happen with the help of the main stream press. They are the great enablers. They are the commissioners. They pick the game and they set the rules.
I dont know if you are aware of this but John Kerry served in Vietnam. He really did. He even mentioned this in is acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention. Sam Donaldson covering the event was telling his audience that people should know that Veterans like John Kerry rarely talk about their service. That contrary to what people think, Veterans do not like to talk about the So the Democrats can finally compete in the War game. Maybe. A couple of hundred swift boat Veterans may have something to say about it. He looked good in pre season but John Kerry may not be able to pass a urine test, He may test positive for lying. Not to worry there is still time to say its the economy Stupid
So let the games begin. The Democrats get to call the coin toss. They call heads they win, tails you lose. You got a problem with that? Keep your eyes on the quarter.
ir experience in war. They are humble about their service, shy even. Veterans simply avoid bringing up the subject. He was saying this while we were watching home movies on a giant screen that John Kerry took of himself in Vietnam. Great analysis Sam. Thank you.
Nice.....
Nice, uh, metaphors.
(steely)
