Lead story at 6:00PM ET -- massive voter registration irregularities and problems nationwide. Story went by quickly so wasn't ready for thye details. Tens of thousands of voters in many states (including FL) say their registrations have been lost or misregistered. Some registered in March and April and have never received their confirmation cards. In PA, absentee ballots were hosed -- some list Nader, some don't. May all have to be canceled, new ballots printed, remailed, and wait for them to come in. Many other problems in many states. Heard that in one county, there are more people registered to vote than total of people in county. Perhaps other Freepers caught additional details.
Well, all the more reason to prosecute voter fraud accordingly.
The Dems are doing this to "win" the only way they can; by injecting so much chaos and uncertainty that they can call a Bush reelection "illegitimate".
I would believe it....
its going to be nuts....im going to vote and then play playstation all day so I dont get too crazy about it....
Earlier on Hannity, I heard a congressman saying that in Franklin Ohio there are more people registered to vote than there are actual people in the town!
It's unpopular, but I think we need to eliminate absentee ballots. In my uneducated opinion, they're vehicles for voter fraud.
Now... I said I was uneducated. I don't know how to ensure that servicemembers are not disenfranchised, or how to fix the other problems that absentee voting corrects if you do away with the process of absentee voting.
As I see it, the problem is maintaining the idea of one person, one vote. We've got to fix the problems with vote fraud in this country. We MUST. As much as I don't like the idea, the only way I can think of to do it is to have some kind of national database (maybe based on your driver's liscense number or SSN?) that instantly checks you off as having voted, but obviously not recording who you voted for. Then, you could not vote again in that race. I have no idea how to secure that type of system, but it's the only way I can think of to eliminate vote fraud. Do any of you other, more educated and better informed FReepers have any ideas?
LOL are you freebasing cocaine or heroin? The only thing we need to do is ENFORCE existing voter laws and punish those who commit vote fraud and deny illegals and felons the right to vote.
Biometric ID....wait, here's my guns, you can have those too...try not to imprint the barcode too close to my receding hairline, OK?
That being said, I also think that there will be many things brought out (fraud, intimidation, illegal acts, and media collaberation) that the American people will demand election reform and the repeal of "motor voter". The internet brings these things to the light of day and the MSM is just acting like the willing collaberator that they have always been for the far left. It's up to us to win this election and it will be up to us to force change in election laws. If we fail on the ladder or the former we are nothing better than a third world hell hole and we will no longer be free.
First, focus on the present. Mobilize the vote and win this election, not just for the President but all Republicans (national, state, county, and local). Get this done on Nov. 2. Then we can work on the rest of this crap.
Any elections disputes or irregularities will be resolved by the House anyway, who'll then vote...for Bush. I'm not saying we should sit back on our laurels and do nothing, but it's not the hysteria that we should believe it to be.
Not necessarily. Some did, maybe. Many have recently moved to a new voting precinct, or even to a new state.
Still, accross the nation the Dims have intentionally let loose the dogs of confusion. (They have no dogs of war.)
and guess who's doing it--the republicans??Nooooooooooo

Perhaps we could get some advice from Afghanistan on how to run a proper election.
I don't believe we do prosecute treason.....do we?
I registered in Washington State back in August and did not receive my card until yesterday.
Yesterday I saw two leftist women registering people to vote. They had Kerry/Edwards flyers and banners everywhere and that awful Mad magazine style picture of Bush from the cover of the Nation. No way they'd keep any registration that wasn't 'Rat.
Are you allowed to register people in a partisan way like that?
I kinda liked that indelible purple ink on the left thumb nail myself. If you truly used indelible ink, you could keep the multiple voters from voting more than once.
Besides, if everyone had to have a purple left thumb, it would be slightly difficult for the demoncrats to yell discrimination! The only people being discriminated against would be those who choose to not vote.
While the FBI sleeps.
Well, you're close.
As I see it, the problem is maintaining the idea of one person, one vote.
It was not by accident that the Founders did not write the Constitution with a universal franchise.
While I may not agree with the compromises they reached with respect to the eligibility requirements for voting in federal elections, I agree with their assumption that not everybody ought to be voting.
It is exceedingly clear from the Federalist Papers that the Founders considered a citizenry that was both informed and familiar with the mechanics of government to be essential to the survival of the Republic.
We require that legal immigrants to the U.S. to pass a test to prove that they have a certain amount of knowledge about the history and political structure of this country; I believe that those who wish to vote should be able to pass an equivalent test.
In addition, I believe that those who suckle at the teat of government should have no say whatsoever regarding the distribution of the bacon.
If the amount of taxes you pay is less than the total amount of money you receive from the government, then you don't vote. Period.
Any questions?
