Charles Krauthammer was on Brit's show yesterday. He said that Edwards comment put false hope into the heart of those who may have to wait decades for some kind of cure. He was very upset and said that it was one of the worse types of campaigning he has ever heard.

By the way for those who do not know Krauthammer must use a wheelchair to get around.

typically the attorneys get 1/3 of the settlement or judgment, 40-45% if it goes to appeal.

In the meanwhile they take all the risk, too. They aren't paid on cases that can take years to develop and try. If they are lucky, they will get their expenses reimbursed. They have to continue to pay their office expenses, staff and the costs of litigation which can be pretty heavy with depositions, expert witnesses, etc.
