I recorded it and don't have time to transcribe the whole mind-blowing exchange (the Kerry spokesman was saying outrageous stuff even before the outright threat, but here's the EXACT wording of that particular part:

Chad Clanton, Kerry Campaign Senior Advisor: [He is sitting in the Kerry HQ, doing the interview via satellite. Earlier in the interview, he refers to the "Democratic Party yesterday filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Committee... [sic]". Just prior to the threat, Clanton is complaing about this "huge media conglomerate" strong-arming its local affiliates into carrying the program.]

...It's wrong, and that's why we filed this FEC [sic, does he mean FCC?] complaint. And in fact, I've got some breaking news here I brought with me, the FCC just issued a statement about thirty minutes ago, [reads from paper] "This is an abuse of public trust." [note: time stamp on FNC screen indicates 1:14 pm ET]

Listen, they better look out there at Sinclair Broadcasting. I'm not a lawyer, but they've stirred up a lot of people, what they're doing is wrong... [audience booing drowns him out]

Linda Vester, Fox News Anchor: [to audience] Let's let Chad make his point.

Chad Clanton: ...That's why you've got, well, we've got thousands of people now, very mad, jackballed up, calling these stations, protesting, threatening boycotts of their sponsors. I think, uh, they're going to regret doing this, and they better hope we don't win.

Linda Vester: Ahh, wait, is that an implicit threat that if you, if Kerry wins, that you will deny their stations' renewal licenses?

Chad Clanton: No, what we're saying here is what they're doing is wrong, everybody knows it, and uh, they got a lot of people that are very upset. I think you'll see a lot of protests, your'e already seeing a lot of calls, and, look, they're trying to get a 90- minute political spot paid for, for nothing. They're getting it on the airwaves to help President Bush, it's wrong, and uh....

Linda Vester: Well, Chad...

Chad Clanton: ...Look, it makes, it makes me so mad I want to throw my boot through the TV set, it's wrong, people are sick of it.

Linda Vester: Well, Lord knows we don't want you to take off your boots, so... [audience laughter] But let me just ask you, what if. You know the movie, Going Up River, .....etc [sorry, I don't have time to precisely transcribe all of this right now, but in essence she asks him if a pro-Kerry movie was airing on 62 stations, would they be making all this fuss?]

Chad Clanton: I don't know, you know... [audience howls with laughter] ... I think every option's on the table here. [audience still laughing] I think every option's on the table here. I think we need to see what they're gonna do here, they've got a lot of pressure on them, a lot of public outcry. I don't know what the FCC is going to say, I don't know how it'll affect their license, but uh,

Linda Vester: In all seriousness...

Chad Clanton: ...it's clearly partisan politcal politics. It's what the American people are sick of. I think frankly,...

Linda Vester: In all seriousness, let me just say something, Chad, because I have talked to Vietnam veterans. And is it possible that maybe your campaign is overlooking the depth of resentment among the Vietnam veterans. People, soldiers who really, really blame John Kerry for what he said? [applause] Is it possible that you're miscalculating the depth of their feeling about this, and miscalculating and not addressing it before the election?

Chad Clanton: No, I think that clearly there's people who have a different view, John Kerry served honorably, he earned the right to speak out, ... [angry boos erupt] ...but what this is really about, it's a political smear 30 days from the election from some of George Bush's big corporate friends. They know John Kerry's going to stand up for the middle class before their corporate interests [hoots and laughter from audience] and they don't like it....

There's lots more, including all the stuff that led up to the above exchange, but I just don't have time to transcribe the whole thing, it's taken nearly two hours just to do the above. I'd like to make it clear that I included "uhs" and run-on sentences NOT to make anyone look inarticulate, but because that's the way people actually talk, and I felt that getting the precise wording was extra-important in this case.

Please, if anyone sees a more extensive transcript, PLEASE ping me to it so I don't duplicate someone else's effort. I'd like to have a transcription of the whole interview, it was one of those things that leaves you with your jaw hanging open in astonishment. Hate to post and run, I have to leave for the afternoon, but wanted to get this posted for everyone to chew on.

Great job! Thanks for your time-consuming effort. And as you point out, there was a lot of ugly stuff coming from Clanton even before he issued his blatant threat.

Thanks for your effort. Understand that watching Mr. Chad must have been difficult.

This is all just telegraphing what would happen if Kerry were to attain the office...he would use the FCC like a cudgel after he installed Michael J. Copps as Chair. Sinclair would have Jackbooted thugs show up at each of their station's transmitters and POOF!, the knife switch would be thrown....Sinclair's stations would go dark. Never mind the expected court fight that would ensue, every minute Sinclair stations are dark, is another 30 seconds of airtime unsold.

Copps and Kerry have already shown their hand in wanting to reign-in group ownership in the sake of "diversity".

Good work, Sarce. Appreciate it.

Clanton's acting like a thug, though he looks more like a wuss. IMO.

Thanks for the instant transcript.

This was one of Linda Vester's hottest shows.

I loved the spontaneous audience reaction.

Hello,

Thank you for your efforts! I did not get to see the interview, and you have done a great job of "painting a verbal picture"! What I hope is that FOX decides to rerun the piece. Perhaps Brit...

Glad to be here, MOgirl

"I think, uh, they're going to regret doing this, and they better hope we don't win."

This is one of the more troubling statements of the political season, for it gives us insight into the progressive political approach. This is the same bunch that imposes speech codes and "hostile environment" regulations on campuses while at the same time expressing a commitment to free speech. The dangerousness of these people is that many of them don't see the irony. I hope that someone can figure out a way to make this a real issue over the next few days.

I posted this on either this thread or another thread regarding the same subject:

Regardless of what this little gangster said about "he just heard a ruling from the FCC", Rush said on his radio station that it wasn't a ruling by the FCC but rather a statement made by ONE Commissioner of the FCC. That Commissioner is always in the minority in his opinions, according to Rush.

Thank you so much for taking the time to transcribe what Chad said on Linda's show

That sure sounds like a threat to me and should give every broadcast station a chill knowing that a Kerry Presidency will shut you down if you air or report anything that is not favorable to him
