Boycott Those left leaning newspapers

Posted on 10/12/2004 8:15:11 AM PDT by capebuffalo

Since the Philadelphia Inquirer intends to use the next 21 days to attack George Bush, its time to take off the gloves. I for one cancelled, as some of my neighbors have, our subscription.

I would hope that like minded Bloggers will do the same to all these left leaning newspapers. Hit them where it hurts.

You can add the KANSAS CITY STAR to the left leaning papers. I am thinking about doing away with my Subscription. I like the Sports and Business section but they are so far to the left I think they lost sight of their readers.

Who Buys the Daily Newspaper anymore??? Subscribe to Human Events or the Weekly Standard or National Review and get your daily news off the web. Most daily newspapers are American Pravadas.

Seriously...I started boycotting these rags in 1992, after they gave the election to Clinton...and I let them know what I think whenever they call to sign me up for a subscription. This is the only logical way to fight back.

I cancelled my subscription to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette last week. It is owned by the same company that owns the Boston Globe and the NYT. Too many NYT articles in the W T&G.

W T&G had a conservative editorial board...but not anymore.

Dallas Morning News is usually conservative. I will not boycot them, but I think Houston Commie is.

Too late. We dropped the Inquie a few years ago for exactly this reason. They still call and try to peddle their rag. When they do, I tell them again why we don't want their leftist blather.

The most influential thing a subscriber could do is cancel their subscription. A daily newspaper counts up to $2,000 per year on their annual balance sheet for each annual subscription on their rolls. Advertising rates are also based on the number of subscribers.

I cancelled my Chicago Tribune about 7 years ago. Every once in a while I'll look at it, and after 5 minutes I'm convinced that I did the right thing.

I don't read any newspaper except the WSJ. Even stopped buying the Commie Chicago Tribune Sunday edition for the coupons. My wife says she can do as well without them.

If Freepers cancel their subscriptions to any newspaper that back Kerry and send their monthly savings to Free Republic. That is a triple whammy against the fish wrap.

1. They lose subscribers and subscriber $'s.
2. This will negatgively impact their ad $'s
3. They will know that their worse enemy, Free Republic will be receiving each month what used to be their monthly payment.
4. Send copies of your cancellation letter to key/big time local advertisers.

Send the newspaper editor a letter before the election of your intent. If they back Kerry, then follow through. Cancel your subscription and make a monthly donation to Free Republic = to your monthly fishwrap subscription cost.

Minneapolis Star/Tribune...

(1) "Wellstone leads by 50 points among Northern (read=remote) districts" headlines one day before 1994 election.
(2) Constent drivel in Opinion section.
(3) Doonsbury and Boondocks cartoons.

I could go on, but since I don't read it much, that's it.

I don't read any newspaper except the WSJ.

Me too, but I have a bit of a problem with it. The WSJ comes in four sections. The section that I have a problem with is the first one (except for the last two pages, which contain the editorial section, which is superbly conservative and worth the price of the paper). That first section, believe it or not, leans a little left. I am suspicious of their coverage of news events.

Since I don't live in Washington, DC, Dallas, or Pittsburgh, I don't have the option of getting a middle of the road or conservative daily paper.

I agree with the other posters: ditch your rags. Why enrich the enemy?

We got rid of the Houston Chronicle about 8 years ago. They were even biased in their sports page! After my husband had a one hour heart to heart with the asst.sports editor that had purposely slimed a strong Christian football player(lied to be exact), he happily cancelled. All that was left was the gardening section and that alone couldn't perfume the stink from the political and sports news. :)
