JOHN KERRY'S OIL SLICK
New York Post ^ | October 12, 2004 | NICOLE GELINAS

Posted on 10/12/2004 6:39:15 AM PDT by OESY

Fifty dollars buys a barrel of oil and some cheap demagoguery — witness John Kerry's new television ad.

..."Our freedom and independence are at stake. I want an America that relies on its own ingenuity and innovation, not the Saudi royal family . . . no young American should be held hostage to our dependence on Mideast oil."

Teresa Heinz Kerry ventured... "John will never send a boy or girl in a uniform anywhere in the world because of our need and greed for oil"....

But an isolationist stance — economic or political — toward the Middle East won't starve the despots there of any of their billions in oil revenues. And it won't make America any safer.

Sure, the feds could plow billions into unproven energy technologies, as both Bush and Kerry pledge to do.

But Kerry could launch the most ambitious renewable-energy program in the world, and succeed beyond his wildest dreams — and he'd shave just a few percentage points from America's total oil consumption, at most....

Cheap oil is no longer America's singular interest in the Mideast — stopping terrorism is. To do that, America must remain painfully involved in the region.

President Bush is trying to sow democracy in the Middle East so that repressed Muslims don't launch suicide attacks against Americans in their nihilistic bids for martyrdom....

A truly free Iraq — one free of the oil cartel and of a state-run oil industry — would represent the Iraqis' best chance to break free of their petroleum-soaked economy....

And an Iraq free of OPEC could ease Saudi Arabia's real and imagined power over oil prices — Iraq's oil reserves are third only to those of the Saudis and Iran.

But Kerry would rather soothe voters with fantastical plans....

Firstly we dont send off 'boys & girls' to war. America is NOT the Palestinians who DO send their CHILDREN to do terror (btw Terror is different from WAR). Our soldiers technically are somebody's children (we dont use clones or robots) but the usage of these words imply that Bush IS EVIL by going to war.

Secondly, I cannot think of ANY LEADER in ANY COUNTRY who faced with economic sanctions & collapse for lack of oil/fuel/energy who will not take up arms to defend the rights to obtain that vital commodity.

For TerrEzzUh to say that is so waaay outta touch with reality that she endangers America by just saying it.

With all her Millions of $$$ she can afford to have 10,000 gallons of gasoline at each of their 7 mansions to weather any oil/fuel shortages by the average American does not and the mere fact that she spouts off such diatribe and her husband endorses such policies, sends an dire warning to the entire country about the potential leadership sKerry brings to the table.

God deliver us from this evil man and his wife!!!

Isn't it obvious, Kerry prefers totalitarian regimes over free. He has a long history.

Kerry's plans can be found in the words: "America's total oil consumption".

Kerry has no intention of launching any ambitious plans for the USA to be independent of foreign oil. AT least none that involve domestic production or tax breaks for producers.

Rather, Americans will have FORCED lowered consumptions, car manufacturer's will be disallowed tax breaks if new cars do not meet "higher standards" of mileage, all that enviro-NUT stuff the left talks about.

Baraba Streisand will have her way as we all dry our clothes on the line and bicycle to work . . .

Kerry is against drilling ANWR in Alaska. Yet, with all you've mentioned, I saw him on TV this morning, and the backdrop had a bunch of slogans printed on them--among them "energy independence." Kerry, Kennedy, and the rest have done everything possible to interfere with energy independence, from voting against drilling to pushing energy-expensive envrionmental initiatives. What a hypocrite.

"dry our clothes on the line and bicycle to work"

some of us already do, i ride 3 times a week to work (24m round trip) and when asked why, i respond so i am not dependent on any foreign country, but the difference is that it is my decision not some beaurocrats.

Many people do their share as their lifestyle permits. It's called freedom!
