I would love to give this lady my cel. number and then let a few of my BRITISH friends, who just happen to be bouncers, be her bodyguards for a few weeks. It would never happen again.
The entire 4 years I was in England i never had any problems with the locals. Even bouncing at nite clubs didn't cause any problems. What was bad was when the "peaceful protestors" came to base and tried to make their case. A few got to see the business end of a M16A2 (even though no round was in the chamber they don't know the difference).
Astonishing. How is it that the poll numbers for Mr. Blair are so high now? I think I heard it on tv that he looks good to be reelected. Curious...
This article goes a long way to describing what is going on in Europe and it is truly sad that such anti-Semitism and anti-American thought pervades the culture. Like in the US, we need to continue to educate the uneducated and the hateful.
This article paints an ugly picture but I don't doubt that it's true and accurate. I had made plans for years to spend a large part of my retirement travelling in Europe. Today I am quite content seeing the USA. Europe is a cultural dead zone which will be Islamic in the next 30 years. Yosemite Falls has more to teach me than all the blood soaked castles of Eurabia.
Compare this with the joyful welcome Americans get in Viet Nam.
Ms Gould is not exaggerating. I went to Britain as a child and stayed through university and a year after that. I was looked after by a British couple who were friends of my family. They were like parents to me. I've known them and my friends from University (rugby and swimming teams, etc.) for 30 years. Recently, I returned for a visit. With only one exception, I was verbally assaulted by every person I met, including my beloved guardians, in just the way that Ms Gould describes. This was always done in a hateful, public way. It seemed as if people there competed for status as the most anti-American and Jew-hating. I was appalled and will never return.
Do you see what this is all about? We still represent a CHRISTIAN and ZIONIST worldview in the US. We are about the only nation left to do so. We are Israel's only true friend.
They hate us because we (STILL) love God (and I don't mean Allah).
This is also indicative of the dichotomy within the US itself-- the Christian right versus the pagan left.
Zeitgeist BUMP!
Oh my goodness. It seems like i'm reading a story from 1936 or 37 Europe. Maybe we should think twice about moving our troops from Europe.
What a clueless, elitist, snobbish bunch of psuedo-intellectual bigots. Neville Chamberlain makes a come back. Will the alligator eat them last?
I'm astonished and sickened by the abuse the author had to go through. This is the new EU - I shudder to think what the future holds here.
The ex-pat Brits and Germans usuakky start their mouthings after a few beers, the ex-pat French seem to do so as a matter of simple conversation. All are under 35, and dreadfully stupid. All they read is the Guardian and Independent online and skim the 3 anti-USA english language dailies here.
Some of the worse anti-US spewing is from the 'editors' who work at the papers. Stupid and incessant.
The Left thinks & behaves the same all over the world.
When we were stationed in England, we lived in Lakenheath housing. There was a farmer there who hated the Americans so much that he'd leave mounds of manure in his fields, to try and stink us out. After a year of the stench, the village turned on him---finally. The last year we were there was wonderful, you could open the windows and just smell the night air.
That was the only problem we ever had there, the English were friendly.
Unbelievable. I visited England many times during the 80s while I was flying in the Navy. At that time the English were always pleasant and courteous. They seem to have gone insane.
I'm amazed at the anti Americanism. Not the anti Semitism, though both are equally rabid as narrated here.....
I live in North London, possibly the most left wing part of town. I see Americans here all the time. I have no idea what she is talking about.
Regards, Ivan
Without a doubt, the number one cause of anti-Americanism is the media and its leftist lean across the globe.
Having just returned from three week tour of Scotland and England I have to say that there is a marked difference in the way my wife and I were treated by our Hosts and the people in general in those two Counrties.
We were recieved cordially and respectfully in all our travels throughout Scotland From Edinburgh to Wick, and back again. A wonderful experience.
England on the other hand when we tipped our hand by speaking we were treated with an abrupt chill by Cabbies,
hotel desk personal, and in several restaurants.
On the doubledeck tour busses in London the young tour guides would look at us,and deciding that we were yanks
would launch into an anti Bush tirade. Or tell everyone on the bus that the English liked the American gift of a statue
of Abe Lincoln so much that they hid it behind a schrub so they wouldn't have to look at it.
We determined to keep our questions, and remarks to a minium
and get to Heathrow as quickly as we could.
Loved Scotland. And will go back. England.? They can have it.
BTTT
I don't doubt her veracity one bit. She is, however, relating incidents that happened over a longer period of time than that spent in the country by visitors.
