US Senate candidate urges Mexico reforms Los Angeles, CA, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A candidate for the U.S. Senate Monday called on Mexico to improve its economy and, therefore, reduce illegal immigration to the United States. Republican Bill Jones, who is challenging incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer for one of California's two Senate seats, said Mexico needed to improve its education, reduce corruption and improve its investment climate in order to create more jobs for Mexican citizens who currently look to the United States for their futures. In remarks to the California Narcotics Officers' Association, Jones said labor and energy costs were interfering with business productivity, while excessive taxes were sapping Mexico of its internal investment capital. Jones also maintained California officials weren't out of line in calling for Mexico to change its internal policies because California bears enormous costs from illegal immigration.

Boxer is the worst senator in history, she should be easy to beat.

Yep, if Arnie and the national party hadn't decided to let him twist in the wind.

It will take a miracle to beat Boxer.

the population of California votes for the "D" like a stream of shuffling zombies lined up , like a scene from "Night of the Living Dead" at the polling booths

Bill Jones rules , I will back him 100% .

I sure hope we can get him in to replace Barbara "the Pit Bull" Boxer

We are a minority out here, in part because of all the illegal immigration babies now old enough to vote democratic, not republican because of the prop 187 fiasco which would have denied state benefits to foreign visitors yet was turned into a raciest issue by the democrats and since ruled unconstitutional by their lawyers, so now this problem is runway and there is no stopping it, they will not vote republican;

With less than a month until the Nov. 2 election, Boxer holds a 16- percentage-point.

Someone had better oust Boxer. If they don't, we may wake up in a foreign country some morning. Question for deep contemplation: What good does it do to fight terrorists overseas if our own borders are as porous as a sponge? The fox is getting into the hen house via the back door!

Sorry I didn't mean to post twice. I went to the thread, and it hadn't posted, hit reload, again, then went back and hit post. There it was twice.

I'd think as upset as they are in California over illegal immigration he would win in a landslide.... this is the first I've heard of him.

"I'd think as upset as they are in California over illegal immigration he would win in a landslide.... this is the first I've heard of him."

The republican party in California is not against illegal immigration, nor is the national party.

Both parties go against the opinion of the majority of American citizens.

For those who don't know, most of Prop. 187's provisions were enacted into federal law. (per Scott Baugh, former California Assembly Republican leader; 10/09/2004 when we chatted in Huntington Beach).

However I seriously doubt they get widely enforced. Those charged with enforcement are mostly government employees, union members, contributors to dem. coffers, and feed off the plantation workers' victimization, so-called poverty, etc.

The southern border will get attention, if terrorists come across, inflict a deadly act. Short of that, expect little to change.

I spoke to a (pediatrics) doctor, lifelong Republican. Said he couldn't vote for Bush, because little is done about immigration.

He's an older man, of moderate views. But strident about immigration. Not that his one vot in Calif. means much.

Bill Jones is a stealth candidate. Lousy fundraiser in his own right. It takes a lot more than just having the right positions to get elected.

It takes money and personality. Like those facts of not, they are the Truth.

No the Republican Party isn't. The residents are! I know that for a fact... and they are the one's who ultimately vote for the candidate.

I work for a doctor in S. California and I know he, his wife and the office staff are all voting for Bush. One of their biggest disappointments is the handling on immigration, but they are way to aware of what people like Edwards has cost them in their pocketbook due to Malpractice insurance increases.

It's about time Jones started opening his mouth on this. Better late than never, but I wonder if it will get much play. BTTT

Unfortunately, the late Bill Jones is having much trouble raising the money he needs to beat Boxer.

Speaking out against illegal immigration will not improve his standing with Rove and the RNC.

I hope that he can beat Boxer, but right now it don't look good.

BTW, the only thing that can fix Mexico is a violent, bloody peasant revolution against the corrupt, aristocratic, superwealthy upper class government.

Why yes, she certainly should be. But Bill Jones, the timid, stuttering, self-effacing clone of Bill Simon, is no man to do it.

I've watched him in interviews, and he's a deer in the headlights. Asked about abortion, he stutters and beats around the bush. Asked about immigration...he clams up.

Bill Jones is a nice guy. Unfortunately, California politics is dominated by thugs, mostly Mexican thugs these days. Nice guys finish last against these SOBs.

Which is where Jones is going to finish.
